    btw battery will hold a charge for a few minuites just like most older laptops needs to be plugged in. forgot to mention that.

    i got a grocery getter that has a 5 star crash rating. with front, front side and side curtain airbags to help reduce the likelihood of injuries in a collision. im runnign safe these days. THATS WHAT I GOT!

    Paul what do you want in a laptop?

    Do you plan to take it places ? Allot ? (Weight/screensize considerations)

    Do you need long battery life?

    Screen size?

    Gaming (FPS/FlightSim/Racing/RPG)?

    OS?

     

    because if all you want is a device to surf the web and do basic tasks the EEE Transformer 10.1 is bad ass. Purchase the keyboard for it and you have ~16hrs of battery life. Very vivid screen and android 3.2 (4.0 soon)

    the fiance her work stuff on the laptop so it has to be officey

     

    i cruise cr anad porn . well thats about it . no gaming ive got an xbox for that. and bigger screen the better.

    i just bought a lenovo V570 at best buy upgraded it with 8GB of RAM from 6GB and took out the 5400 RPM drive and replaced it with a 7200 RPM drive and added a MSATA SSD drive. Computer kicks ass now and its an i5 Sandy bridge processor, does everything possible and still runs cool.

     

    dudeeeees dumb it down to paul level, maybe picture book dumb lol. how much?

    ok Paul, Like cars laptop have gotton to a speed point were there all fast enough and the real fast ones are stupid expensive.

     

    so buying a used business class laptop is the way to go.

     

    meh no really looking for used so what are my ooptions my fiances laptop that we share is starting to crap out and need to replace it but dont want ot spend a shit ton on it,

    Go used find something with a discrete graphics card and profit.

     

    Go out buy a nice SSD or a Hybrid Drive (I just bought one they kick ass)

    Max our the ram

    replace the battery.

     

    you will have a bad ass refurbished laptop for 300-500$
