Finishing my degree was one of the big reasons I left. Tired of paying on student loans I have nothing to show for I'd do it. Railroad work sounds interesting to me. Trust me...... The novelty wears off pretty quickly. Continuously get called out on your rest, &/or at 3 am; work 100 hour weeks.... Not including hotel time; work or get stuck in a hotel for every holiday but Christmas.... And not even get double time, or time & a half for that matter if you're still under 40 for the week.....Say Easter Sunday???; walk a two mile train each way in hip high snow & subzero degrees at 4 am, or through knee deep, shitty water 'cause you're tryin' to find an air leak in the cut you just tied onto, & while the rail is elevated & dry, the ditches on the sides are not &, in this shithole area, are filled with God knows what; see some kid's brains splattered across one of the autoracks in your consist 'cause he chose "suicide by train"; or go into areas you thought they couldn't pay you enough to 'cause they literally have found dead bodies there before, across from the crack house..... TWICE The kinds of places where nobody's gonna hear you scream anyways..... Or care. Even thought I was getting shot at one night...... Kept sounding like it as we were working a customer, and all the windows on my conductor's side were shattered. Literally hit the deck in the cab & radioed dispatch to send out the popo Every single one of those things is true & happened to me in my first year or so They told me this when I was dazzling them in my interviews (literally 100 people in the room, & they only hired 4 of us. I had NO prior experience. Ask Sam.... I was dazed & confused for the first 6 months, and almost got knuckled up & died twice) but I wanted/needed the job so bad, I disregarded their warnings, & utilized my stubborness to hold on for 3 1/2 years 'til wifey finished her Bachelors & Masters & refused to work while doing so, & Baby Fonz surprised us with his conception & arrival Railroad thinks when you sign your name on the dotted line, that your life revolves around their freight. I miss the guys/camaraderie & the trains..... But DEFINITELY not the lifestyle I will say this....... I'm definitely a stronger person because of my time there. Did & saw things, went places, dealt with situations I never would've on my own

I'm not gonna waste any more of my time to read past the first 2 pages, as I wasted FAR too much on the Lunatic & BusaHaughty threads, and I apparently can't even remember my password on the AJ site, or something was done with/to my membership over there, as I can't seem to log in & see what all the commotion is about that started it back up again this time I'm gonna make this statement about the situation as I see it........ Aside from maybe a dozen? people who have the diplomatic skills or complete lack of interest in all the bull$hit between these two sites & are able to travel back & forth between the worlds...... I dont' think these 2 sites will EVER get along..... PERIOD Too much bad blood down the river, and something like this, that apparently was a joke, flares it all back up again like a bad case of hemorrhoids

Need 5 classes to finish core requirements for my degree. Somehow got ahead of the required hours though, so have to take another 7 just to meet the 124..... so pickin' up a minor instead of blowoffs Online here at the local U still. Goin' in to meat with the Prof today

"Introduce yourself & share any research you've done about your name & what it means" Sweeeeet...... I should'a taken a couple more of these 2nd hour........ OK....... So you need to read the first 2 chapters & have those questions turned in by Saturday, several paragraphs each, then write more paragraphs about 4 of your classmates paragraphs for Tuesday, fill out this survey for me, and call these companies in CA, conduct an interview & put your 3-5 pages of findings in a power point presentation....... Also for Tuesday Did I accidentally sign up for Doctorate level courses?!?
