  1. You must not've ridden next to Kyle much then, when we went to KY Sam's are just as loud You did now!
  2. "The Proposal" When a company falls on difficult times, one of the things that seems to happen is they reduce their staff and workers. The remaining workers must find ways to continue to do a good job or risk that their job would be eliminated as well. Wall Street, and the media normally congratulate the CEO for making this type of "tough decision", and his board of directors gives him a big bonus. Our government should not be immune from similar risks. Therefore: Reduce the House of Representatives from the current 435 members to 218 members. Reduce Senate members from 100 to 50 (one per state). Then, reduce their staff by 25%. Accomplish this over the next 8 years (two steps/two elections) and of course this would require some redistricting. Some yearly monetary gains include: $44,108,400 for elimination of base pay for congress. (267 members X $165,200 pay/member/yr.) $97,175,000 for elimination of their staff. (estimate $1.3 million in staff per each member of the House, and $3 million in staff per each member of the Senate every year) $240,294 for the reduction in remaining staff by 25%. $7,500,000,000 reduction in pork barrel ear-marks each year. (those members whose jobs are gone. Current estimates for total government pork earmarks are at $15 Billion/yr) The remaining representatives would need to work smarter and improve efficiencies. It might even be in their best interests to work together for the good of our country! We may also expect that smaller committees might lead to a more efficient resolution of issues as well. It might even be easier to keep track of what your representative is doing. Congress has more tools available to do their jobs than it had back in 1911 when the current number of representatives was established. (telephone, computers, cell phones to name a few) Note: Congress did not hesitate to head home when it was a holiday, when the nation needed a real fix to the economic problems. Also, we have 3 senators that have not been doing their jobs for the past 18+ months (on the campaign trail) and still they all have been accepting full pay. These facts alone support a reduction in senators & congress. Summary of opportunity: $44,108,400 reduction of congress members. $282,100,000 for elimination of the reduced House member staff. $150,000,000 for elimination of reduced Senate member staff. $59,675,000 for 25% reduction of staff for remaining House members. $37,500,000 for 25% reduction of staff for remaining Senate members. $7,500,000,000 reduction in pork added to bills by the reduction of Congress members. $8,073,383,400 per year, estimated total savings. (that’s 8-BILLION just to start!) Big business does these types of cuts all the time. If Congresspersons were required to serve 20, 25 or 30 years (like everyone else) in order to collect retirement benefits, tax payers could save a bundle. Now they get full retirement after serving only ONE term. IF you are happy with how Congress spends our taxes, disregard this message. Otherwise, then I assume you know what to do........
  3. Was one of the things you did this weekend that thing we talked about with the albums ....Batch uploader + ability to use links from other sites rather than only uploading from your hardrive?

Ahhhh....But it's not a true DTC function.....Unless one of the dysfunctional fathers is present
  11. Just a suggestion FWIW.....But if you're gonna "quote" somebody's post for your reply, maybe get rid of any pix in the quote that aren't pertinent to your reply. That way this thread isn't takin' forever to load, and bouncin' back & forth even more because a few of the pix need resized
  12. Actually.....The Vetter package is on dad's Zuke. The Wing already came with a full package of it's own by '81. There are a ton of pix from that trip, but those are the only ones I have. Kinda funny.....I just stumbled upon them again a few weeks ago. Mom or dad have the rest, and dad & I haven't spoke much the last 6 years. I think he gave me these about 8 years ago, when Chuck, his best friend & the big guy in the pix, passed away from cancer. I spent A LOT of time on the back of Chuck's bike growin' up. As you can tell.....I pretty much grew up on the back of a bike. If my mom was goin' ridin' with us too....then I got shotgun on Chuck's bike, 'cause he didn't have any kids of his own at the time, and I was his little buddy. I've been to CA on this trip, as well as Smokey Mt's, & Manitoba, Canada....Plus infinite other local rides. You have no idea how right you are Koz. Reason dad gave me these pix after Chuck's funeral, is because we went to see him a few hours before he passed. As we were leaving, I went over to give him one last hug, and he whispered in my ear "Thanks for the memories" Him thanking me for riding all over the country on the back of his bike?!? Still makes me tear up when I think about it/him So yeah.....Those pix are priceless to me and I'm glad I found them again & coincidentally had a reason to share them
  13. I was going to take a pic in front of the "Welcome to..." signs that I passed on bike trips. That idea lasted for about 3 signs. Idaho, Montana and New Mexico... Two rainbows, Fairplay, Colorado... A few more of the obscure states that most don't ride in.... Wyoming (or "fuckin' Wyoming" as I like to call it) South Dakota Georgia Utah More states. Can't believe no one hasposted Florida yet. Here's some from St. Pete Beach in front of the Hurricane Restaurant and out in the middle of the state... The curves of Nevada... Redwoods in California... Did you mean you were gonna post all 50 yourself Eric.....Or was this a group participation thread???
  14. Cool idea Eric! Though.....I think we're gonna need that image resizer for this thread I can cover South Dakota, Nevada, Utah, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Chicago & the U.P......All on bikes Welcome back to September, 1981 folks....That's me in the middle.......10 years old/5th grade (wearing my Steeler's jacket ), with my dad & one of his best friends. Mom's takin' the pictures. The sidecar w/ the red helmet was where I rode the whole trip. Pretty cool....My dad hooked up a speaker for me so I could listen to the stereo too, + it had a flip up canopy that snapped on for when it was raining. Attached to a 1980 Suzuki GS1000G w/ the full Vetter touring package. Dad's buddy Chuck, had the GoldWing & was pulling a rental trailer with all the camping supplies & bags for us. We rode from Toledo to Needles, California (just across the border) & back in 2 weeks. Got to see Boys Town (NO...They didn't leave me there ), Mt. Rushmore, Wall Drug, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Hoover Dam, Arch of St. Louis, & ride through the Black Hills & Mojave Desert. We were supposed to go to Yellowstone, but they were already snowed under, and it was "chains only" advisory. We didn't think chains would work too good on the bikes, so we detoured. Went out across the northern plains states, & came back home across the south. Here we are crossing into Nevada. Back of dad's bike on the left..... Great Salt Lake, Utah. And yeah....I drank some of the water Fast forward to present day Here's part of the DTC chillaxin' with Booker Noe at Jim Beam's American Outpost in Clermont, KY, this past October. You can just see the bikes behind Kyle's arm on the left.... Navy Pier in Chicago, from the "Loopin' the Lake" Michigan trip, June 2007......... John Hancock Building. Friday afternoon during ChyTown rush hour...... More Chicago skyline.......... Bublitz's restaurant, just north of Milwaukee, WI Breakfast @ Bublitz's......Slippin "Fast" Eddy the tongue Had 10 of us for this leg of the ride.
