they only do that to avoid long lines and getting customers in and out quick so the next person can buy their new trend. i understand accepting any form of payment, however when apple has that many people coming in and out of the store during launch week of any of their products, id rather have a quick sale with credit and on to the next customer in line than waiting on someone to handle cash and count and return change.

where are you getting that price from? directly from the apple site with those same or similar specs: 13" mbp, 4Gb ram w/ 320Gb HD = 1500, add in a new internal from newegg for a 500 or greater = 1600 at best. 15" matched with those specs 2199 even the massive 17" with i7 2.53Ghz and 4/500 is 2299.

weird, i have this exact setup you are describing, yet i didn't spend 2500 dollars... parallels, the best of both worlds... for much less than 2500 dollars

on an semi related note, apple has applied for a patent related to holographical touchscreen. i believe it has been granted? I realize holographics is in the R/D of many other companies as well but you know apple will do something fancy with it and blow it out of the water leaving most other competitors far behind

meh, i can see both sides of the story. apple now can create its own hype with its product secrecy, "what cool things are they going to come up with next!?" (i realize cool may not be the right word for you guys lol) people keep a close watch on their product release days and their website just to see what will happen with mouses hovering over the refresh and pre-order option because of it. however, the leaving of a pre release iphone 4 at a bar does seem sketchy, especially since it was reported to just be a regular employee of apple. i figured they wouldn't release those kind of products to normal average joe employees.

the only legit tech leak that i can recall was when that apple employee left his iphone 4 at the bar before it was released. all other "leaks" are speculative at best.

supposed to be very similar to the iphone 4 with respect to design and front and rear cams. unsure about the retinal display glass although there was talk about it, same with the usb support. however, nothing with apple is certain until release day or unless there is a tech leak

also if you're set on the ipad, wait a few months. the ipad 2 is coming out in feb/march

this is just going to turn into a mac v pc thread like all your other ones. you don't have to buy an ipod, there are plenty of other portable music players available. i'll take the quality of my macbook pro over any current pc laptop on the market right now. please tell me you've at least tried an apple product (other than an ipod or iphone) for more than a week.
