Kohl's/Target parking lot at I71 & Rt 48 (Exit 28) at 8:00?

I'm going up tomorrow morning, anyone else going up tomorrow?
-
I'm in!!! Just got a hall pass from the wife today.
-
If there's still room, I'm planning on making it for the ride and after party.

RVTPilot and luvkawzx6-R, Thank you both for your service. RVT: Nice write up, and good read! I've had a few of those "Zen Moments" myself... It's cool! ** EDIT ** Woo-hoo my 50th post! It only took me a year!
-
They did... "Two days later, on April 6th, the group pulled up at Harley’s corporate headquarters at 3700 W. Juneau Avenue, Milwaukee. There, Steve Phillips, VP of Quality and Dealer Relations, handed over the keys to a brand new 2009 Road Glide. Phillips joked that he had to give Zien a new bike because they couldn’t find any technicians who would work on the FXRT anymore."

Turns out it was a good thing for me to have the dealer do my fork seals, because they said the ones that were in it weren't bad, in fact, they were almost new. Only thing is, they installed them upside down. Had I done them myself, I would have paid attention to how they came out, and probably put my new ones in the same way.

I've got the same Craftsman kit, and it is a huge lifesaver! I think there is only the one kit that you use on both metric and sae sizes. The sockets are numbered, but one ez out socket fits multiple size bolts. The inside looks like a reversed inside out drill bit. One it bites, the harder you turn it, the deeper it bites the bolt head.
-
I went ahead and pulled the forks off the bike, I think I'm gonna have Cycle Specialties replace the seals, and I'll put the front end back together this afternoon. I still don't have my carb and intake parts yet though so there's really only so far I can go in putting this thing back together.

I bought new fork seals for my VStar 650, and was planning on getting them done this weekend... Anyone in the Cincy area willing and able to give me a hand? If nothing else, having someone to bs with is cool.
-
** UPDATE ** I sold my V-star to the first guy that came to look at it. The very next week I bought something else. So here it is... Another V-Star 650 This one is a 2000 650 Custom that has already had almost all of the mods I wanted to do on my 2001 Classic, has less than 4000 miles, new tires, and I only paid $1100 for it. The deal was just too good to pass up, and from the little bit of riding that I've done on it, I like it a lot. I'll never keep up with most of you guys, but that's ok, I don't wanna work that hard anyway. I've cleaned the carbs up some (still need to clean them up some more), have fork seals on order, and have added a pair of saddle bags, a fork bag, and have a pilon seat coming for the wife.

Dude with the RF got back in touch with me, says it's got drop in cams and an over bore kit, and he wants $3500 for it. Seems high to me, even with the engine work.
-
Thanks, I think Jersey is a little far for me go for a bike though. I did sell the VStar yesterday though, so I'm sure I'll be making a move here really soon. I hate having a motorcycle shaped hole in my garage!
-
Maybe... Not counting on it though. I think I'll just be patient and see what pops up on CL. Bought my last two that way, it'll be easier with cash in hand, too. I know this guy with the RF900R has had it for sale for a long time, pretty sure it was up when I first listed my SV last fall. I don't mind a few miles, and like I said, when I'm ready to buy, I'll have cash. Cash negotiates a lot better than I do.
-
I'm trying to stay under $3k... Probably won't be able to talk the wife out of much more than I get outta the sale of my bike, so say $2600-$2900.
-
Definitely looking for advice here, hopefully the guy coming out tomorrow buys my V-Star, and I hate having that big motorcycle shaped hole in my garage for too long.
-
Problem with the VFR's is price... I can't afford any that I've seen. Frankly, I may not be able to afford the RF900R either, but that is the sport touring niche I think I'm headed for. Guy up the road has a Pacific Coast I may consider, but it needs a mirror/turn signal assy, and is an '89. Not sure I wanna go that old. The more I reflect on it, the more I miss my SV650. Never should have sold it but now I've got an opportunity to look again, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I think I read somewhere that Suzuki did an SV1000 Naked right? That's probably my ideal ride.

After going out with some Cincy guys on Thursday and generally feeling like the fat kid at recess, I've become totally convinced that my VStar is not the bike I want. I thought it was, and it really is a nice bike, but it doesn't suit me like I thought it would. Honestly, I don't want a supersport bike, and I've determined that I'm still young enough to want to have an entertaining ride through the twisties every now and then. In doing some research, I've come across a bike that I never really considered as a real possibility, and wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with them. The bike is a Suzuki RF900R. There is currently (and has been for a while) one listed on Craigs List, but the owner provides very little info. I've already sent him an e-mail through CL, but I hoped to get a little insight into these bikes before I ventured too much further down the road. I've got a guy coming to scope out the VStar tomorrow, and if the price is right, could find myself with a new to me bike in the garage.

I thought the same thing, but looking at the tank and frame detail, I think it may be the blacked out Harley V-Rod Muscle that just came out for '09... Harley fits more with no helmet than a cafe bike I think. Sucks

mrmako - Glad you guys were there, I'm sure Jeremy will appreciate all of your efforts, especially knowing that his bike is taken care of, and not headed for some impound somewhere.
-
Man, I'm sorry to hear that... The way I hear "Wear your gear!" preached around here, I assume he was wearing his boots, if so, it could certainly have been worse. Get better soon dude!
-
I had a great time with you guys yesterday. Thanks for letting me tag along! It's clear to me that I'm gonna have to get something a little sportier before I'm gonna keep up. My air cooled v-twin cruiser really isn't used to being pushed that hard! I'm looking forward to getting out with you guys again sometime.

I'm so excited about riding to work tomorrow and Friday, I rode to work today!

I don't mind riding in the rain, I can handle the cold, I can even do the rain in the cold... It's the whole being wet thing I hate. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a rain suit ($10.00) and wore that today when I rode to and from Dayton from Cincy today. Rain, like cold, is a whole lot easier to handle if you're prepared and wear the right gear.
