Think I'm gonna chance it and head out there after all... Hopefully I'll get to meet some Cincy O.R. people there. I've got a black and green VStar Custom with white OhioRiders stickers under the seat, if you see me, come on over and say hey.

I'm not 100% positive I'm going at this point... Weather looks kinda sketchy right now, and though I don't really mind riding in the rain, I don't really wanna stand around in a parking lot, nor go out to eat in the rain.
  3. I just like the functionality of it better. The touch screen affords flexibility in the way it can be used (sideways or conventionally) and the with the touch screen being completely reconfigurable, when you're watching videos and the like, they'll use the entire screen when it's sideways which makes a much larger picture. The only problem I've had with my Storm is that when the battery gets low enough for it to shut down, it takes like 2 hours on the wall charger to get it to even power up. I've downloaded several apps on mine, and subsequently deleted several to make room to run the most recent software update, and the only gripe I've got is that apps like Slacker Radio are a HUGE battery drain. Slacker will kill 3 of the 5 bars of battery life in about an hour if I use it that way.

Anyone going? This'll be my first time out to bike night there, hoping I might find a couple of OR people to park with...
  5. I've had my Storm for a few months now, and I can't imagine being without it. I'm with you, I'll never go back to a regular cell phone again. My wife's got a Curve, and I like my Storm much better.

    Who's going?

I've been thinking about heading up there for this, just not for sure yet... I can tell you I've got no intention of riding the super slab up there again. I'm planning on going up 22. If I go, it'll be after church, so probably leaving Lebanon around 12:30 or so.
  7. This is exactly what I had (minus the 2" lower setup) as my first bike. I still miss it. Fantastic motorcycle! They really don't get much better for the "one bike at a time" motorcycle owner.
  8. The TU250 is a neat little bike. It is the picture of a UJM (Universal Japanese Motorcycle) that made motorcycles popular in the 70's and early 80's in the US. I wouldn't mind having one just to putter around on. Plus when you get bored with it, just cafe the thing and it'll be like getting a new bike all over again!
  9. I'm gonna start working on the wife for a hall pass now... Hopefully I can put together a contingent for a ride up there to roll in around 2:30 or 3:00.
  10. I hate these threads...
  11. Thanks for posting those up! Had a great time riding around with you guys!
  12. More money, better benefits, shorter commute? Congrats!
  13. Glad you and your bike are okay... Sounds like you've learned the cardinal rules of rain riding the hard way. 1) Stay out of the center of the lane, 2) Careful on the road stripes (tar in the cracks is slick too), 3) Be smooth in everything, especially the brakes. Heal up quick, and jump back on that thing!
  14. What straps? Those are chains!
  15. Hey thanks for the compliments guys, that pic was right after washing it, before I put the bags back on, I normally run it with a pair of TourMaster Angled bags, and a TourMaster Fork bag. The VStar 650's all have drum brakes, even the new '09's. Cost savings I guess. It's pretty easy for the oem's to go with drum brakes when the bike is shaft drive.
  16. There's a guy here in Sharonville that has one. It looks cool, but I really can't think of anything that you'd need one for. The military version kicks ass though!
  17. I'm interested, but parades make me a little nervous, being as my bike is air cooled. It would really suck to overheat and have to pull over on the side of the parade route.
  18. If I just had to be different and have a bigger truck than anyone else...
  19. Let me know if you need some paint work, I'll put you in touch with my uncle... He did mine, and pretty reasonable price, too! When we were running up 71, I was exploring the aerodynamic limits of my current choice in motorcycle. When it comes to group riding, there were a couple of times we were a little closer than I liked, but it wasn't too bad. FWIW, when riding in a group, I like to see a staggered formation, 2 seconds gap left to right, with the lead bike on the left side of the lane. This way, there are 2 seconds between every bike, and 4 seconds / half lane. There at the end though coming down 71 from polaris, I was impressed at everyone passing the word back about that enormous garbage bag full of crap in the lane. I shudder to think what could have happened if one of us hit that thing. I was just tickled that every participant I saw was wearing a helmet. Helmet laws be damned! We'll wear 'em anyway!
  20. I was shocked, even after giving you a gatorade bottle worth of gas and putting 100 miles on that tank, when I stopped on the way home for gas in Gahanna, I could only put 2 gallons it! 50 mpg FTMFW!
  21. With our team being predominantly cruisers, and this being our first crack at this scavenger hunt thing, I think we did great! Next year we'll all be a little better prepared... Everybody got gas?
  22. Hey guys! I'm sure I met some of you this weekend at the Anniversary ride, and I wanted to put up a thread to introduce myself to the rest of my OR Cruiser bretheren. I've been on OR for a while, mostly trolling around, but the more time I spend here, I'm sure my post count will grow. I live in Cincinnati (Morrow/Maineville) area, near King's Island, and ride a slightly customized 2000 V-Star 650 Custom. I commute daily to Sharonville on my bike, so if anyone is down for a short afternoon/evening ride sometime let me know, if I can get a hall pass from my wife, I'll jump in with ya! I really suck with names, so if I met you at the party, let me know... I'll try to remember who I talked to. Here's a pic of my bike: This is my wife and I on my last V-Star: Is there a regular weekly ride in Cincinnati that anyone does? Can't wait to meet more of you guys!
  23. I had a great time yesterday and last night. Thanks again to Ben, Carrie, John, Yota, and all of the OR sponsors and participants for putting together such a great event. In case anyone cares, I got back home to Cinci at about 12:35 last night. Good Times!
