A good video for some drills is Ride Like A Pro. Will walk you through some skills drills to increase your confidence. Regardless of what anyone says ride your ride. Only you know you comfort level.

Link... I'll be doing some dual sport riding on Tuesday on a rented KLR650. Wed I'm headed for Highlands down 28 and may do Cherhola over to Telico and back. Thursday I head for Little Switzerland by way of the BRP and over night in Boone. Friday it's 421 all the way to Lexington. Saturday will see me home. I'll come down to the resort Tuesday evening on the ST after I get the dirt off me.

I'll be staying in Townsend and headed down on Monday. Look for a silver ST1300. Plates are LNRGR

I'm headed for the Gap next week. Should be fairly empty. Can't wait.

I've stayed in Townsend Tenn which is nice and quiet. Plenty of places to stay and good food. You cut across the Foothills Parkway and you are at the Dragon from there. I stayed at the Deals Gap resort last year. Nice place and lots of bikers to interact with. Food was so so. Robbinsville is your best source of chow from there. Make sure you run 28 down to Highlands, SC. It's like 100 miles of Dragon. Also do the Cherhola while you are there.

Always ride with contacts. Never had any issues.

I completed my 1st Saddlesore 1000 on Saturday. I did 1120 miles in 18.5 hours. Paperwork has been sent and I'm awaiting verification and my Iron Butt number. One more off the ol bucket list

FZ is a good option properly modified. VFR is another good option. I ride an ST1300 and it is large, but handles like it's little : )

Lots of good used ST1300 and FJR's out there Hob. If Iron Pony doesn't want your business I'm sure another dealer will.

Stay with Honda. ST1300 is awesome!

OK I have to add this. Dynabeads for the total win ! I just put them in today. What a difference.

Not trying to incite, I'm just gonna give my story. I recently purchased 2 new tires and had them mounted at the Pony. Very fast service. I was riding home and noticed a shimmy at speeds over 70. I got home and checked out a few things like tire pressure. The front and rear were under inflated by 5 pounds each. I filled them to proper inflation and no shimmy. Also they put the rim weights on the outside of the rim. I'm used to them being on the inside. I'm hoping my rims are not going to be marred now if they come off. I'll still be a valued customer just may shy away from tire installs down the road. I think the Pony is the best game around for all the motorcycle stuff we need.

129 S to Georgia then 28 back up. Will take a couple of day, but great runs.

I did it last year on my 06 Shadow Spirit. It was a good trip. I'm really looking forward to taking the ST1300 this year.

I went last year and am going again this year in July. I took the Interstate down then spent theday in the Deal's Gap area. Make sure you ride the Cherehola Parkway and Rt 28 (The river road) while you are there. I opted to go over and get on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Boone , NC for the ride home. This year I plan on doing all of the BRP

Welcome to the world of sport touring! I would look at a Honda VFR 800. I have seen those modified nicely into sport tourers. Check out http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php? for more info about VFRs. IMO 600 - 700 cc bikes don't make the best sport touring bikes. Doesn't mean it can't be done, but a larger cc bike may treat you better on a longer trip.

My bike fits me ergonomically, fits my style of riding (sport touring) and and fits my need to have fun.
