USR62 closing

See the barricades laying beside the road. Signs up....Road Closed April 1, for 60 days. What this means is....no way thru-around this closing. Closed between Danville and prolee SR206 to the east. I haven't noticed the survey markers designating construction zone.

So....from Danville to Killbuck, you'll hafta suffer taking SR514 north to SR520 and come out near Killbuck and back on USR62. OR, take 62 back towards Millwood and SR36 to Warsaw. Adventure bikes have more options....back road, Flat Run Rd to Cavillo Station (great name for a novel...motoclista, where iz you?), pop out on SR206, or stay on gravel and go to Walholding and SR715.

Rough guess on highway project, road closed on Killbuck side of Brinkhaven and my side of Mohican River....only two roads outa Brinkhaven....dead end and bridge out....so serious adventure bike to ford the Mohican Ribba.

That is all...over and out.....

Signage change....now says 45 days instead of 60. There are survey markers in a coupla spots.....still no idea as to where the actual construction will be. Of course y'all could call ODOT and ask....Holmes Co., may know...(330) 674-1906 (last I knew).

Like motociclista says...the detour maybe more fun....well the unofficial detour.

Route updates.....USR62, looks like the road closing is easy get around...bicycle path Killlbuck side of Brinkhaven, my side of Mohican Ribba, will have a lighted tunnel put in. For bicycles....us "bikes" can sneak in a pipe walkers and jogger s. okay, this is an easy go around....little side road, prolee the old 62, just before and just after all the survey stakes. Try County Road 10, I think it is still Holmes, could be Knox though. If y'all are keeping track of expenditures....the bicycle path will go under USR62 where the railroad tunnel used to be.....so that build railroad tunnel, fill in railroad tunnel and now dig it back out for bicycles and buggies.

Other USR62.....bridge repair work at Killbuck, the end of 520 at 62... Traffic maintained....one lane and lighted signal....then today I see the detour signs for SR83 south, oh, oh....between here and Kershocton....yell at Parks, maybe he got and offishul route info. Elsewise I'll post once I ride(tomorrow).

Motociclista .... Found an oil patch road that helps with the go around on the first USR62 closing yell. All muddy yer bike would be....teeth should stay white if ya don't smile too much using it!

SR83 between Clark/Millersburg and Coshocton's CR10 will be closed April 1st for 10 days. There is NO easy way around that one. Coming north on SR 83 depending on where ya wanna be, take SR 643 to Amish country....travel the diesel fuel hauling Kawi kid thru Becks Mills, Holmes CR 19 found off of CR600 outa New Bedford, or from 83 take Coshocton's CR207 to CR24 and come out on SR60....or just take 36 to 60..... Or wait the 10 days and then ride.

Texans are going to Dragon's Tail Memorial Day weekend. That'll be a hoot, hunnert mile an hour turn group on the NCa mtn side. Sportie car folks...ain't heard as yet.....if nuthin' else, looking at a long weekend with the other accented folks on Memorial Day. Yes we talked Lake Lure too.

Y'all have a great summer, I'll peek in when I can.

USR62 is easy go around. Use old 62. From Danville...just past Mohican River @ Brinkhaven...go past Brinkhaven and just midway thru the big curve you can see the barricades half way up the hill...tunnel going in under that fill. Road is on left on the curve, State street. Follow it around and it comes out on other side of road work....that side is marked CR 10.

Yer outa luck on that SR83 south to Coshocton....use the regular detour.

Yes, on Danville to 206. As above, follow 62, then just past the Mohican River, and Brinkhaven, you pass by the town, should be the 3rd street on left, State Street. You will be in the huge sweeper that takes you to the hill built....midway thru that sweeper is the turnoff. Look for a blinking lite....it is a yellow lite clipped on a sign warning you of height of 9'8", forgot about the wee tunnel. So semi trailers and real tall adventure bikes won't make it thru...I'm kidding about the adventure bikes. Y'all could stand on the pegs and try and touch the top of tunnel. Speaking of adventure bikes, the oil field road was carved up Thurs by a dozer. Guess someone got tired of folks using it as a connector from USR62 to the old state route. They left the dozer parked too, an added incentive, not to go that way.

Only note, after you get on State Street, old 62, coming from Danville direction, make sure ya make the turn to stay on the old route, there is a county road that you could easily think was, go straight....don't unless ya got an adventure bike ( or jeep ) I think that there is another cut stone tunnel on tha road too. Think it is county road 5? Watch out for all the pea gravel....once all the traffic has rolled it off, it'll be nicer on a bike.

Thar ya be....y'all want back roads, say sumptin'....I can get you back into woods and bring ya from Greer on 514 to 520....lotsa mud for ya to splatter. Saw a dead coyote there yesterday!

Yer welcome...glad to help out.

You made out better than the Harley group I talked with at Roscoe Village today. They were headed north, back to Cleveland on SR83. Ooooo, sorry, but it is closed and no good way around that closing.....they had started on the litany of me sending them off on gravel roads. Nope, not even gravel roads can get ya around that one. Told them of 36 and 60 detour. Nope! We just came from that way....okay get on 36 and head to New Philly way and ..... Interrupted again...can we get to 77?

Yes, more exchanges and told them of 751. Ya know former Cleveland mayor has a winery and restaurant off of 751. Is it very twisty?, said the cute thang riding on back of one of the full dressers.

Yes. Absolutely great road. 751 will take ya to N. Philly and you come out right near the interchange and near Adventure Harley.

Her again, can we get to 77 on straight road? Me- yeah, 36. Him, 751, eh? Yep, nice road, I says.

As wife and I sat down at Uncorked, I thought out loud....should I have told them about the lil' stretch of old 21 that they need to get on to get to N. Philly? Oops, my bad.

Or pop onto the Amish trail and ride that, no stopping thanks to the old RR bridges. ;)

Might not be sport bike friendly though.

LOL, yeah, not cow pies, but horse road apples. Incidentally, new markers on that old 62 I mentioned above. Some sort of mountain bike race. So look for little white signs with arrows pointing the way....follow them around the road closed, and if ya want, jump on that Amish path at the oilfield road......ha!

62 closed again, by Danville, as noted in another string update. Shortest unofficial go around is really bumpy. Think gravel and you'll be fine. At Danville side, take Black Rd., on left and follow it to Body Rd, coming up to you on right,. This is the really rough road....knocked the ctr cap off of my all-wheel drive.

The other way around is a little nicer. Main Street and take street between Hangout and hdwre. Go left, behind and between grain elevator or just go straight until next stop sign and go left there. The next stop sign is the road to be on. If ya cut between the grain elevator, go straight on. If ya didn't cut between elevator and went to the stop sign and turned left....now ya gotta turn right at that stop sign. This road brings ya out onto 62, with this road ya gotta a chance to dodge the spots of bad pavement.

Confused? Just go straight (North) at Danville BP station on 514 for 8 miles and turn right onto SR520. Longer, but way more fun. Unless you're in a jeep!

More 62 road work...culvert replacement near Millwood, one lane - traffice maintained with traffic light. Happening soon..

I know what your thinking, run 36/3 from Sunbury to Mt. Vernon....uhmm, 36 will be closed, just north of Sunbury....another highway project.
