Tonik
So the oil screen on my oil pump pickup is fubar'd. Can't get one in time for my tomorrow planned trip to the dragon. I am seriously considering running without it. Not like there is a bunch of shit in my engine to f' up my oil pump. Opinions gang?
Tonik
What about tossing some screen over the pickup and holding it in place with safety wire? Kind of hillbilly, but it would suffice until your trip was over. Mine is more like a condom. I could rig something up, but I worry my rigging would fail and get sucked into the pump. Helmutt
I'd make "something" work just in case. That would be quite a tow bill back if something happened down there, not to mention it wouldn't take much large debris to seize/frag a gear pump and inflate your repair bill.If it's a steel sump pipe, I'd maybe hoseclamp some screen around it. magley64
depends on how "fine" the screen is... if it's pretty coarse, I'd say let it fly without... if it's pretty fine, you might wanna bodge something.
ridein
I would not worry about it ,It would be different if you left it off forever.....just for a few hundred miles is not going to hurt it...
Tonik
I just looked at a parts fiche. I wouldn't worry about it, but don't just let it go. Order a replacement and install it as soon as it arrives. It's on order....that is the plan.
