deflects lightning strikes...

Tacoma, Washington freeway, a rider was struck by lightning and continued riding to the next stop.

It blew chunks of his helmet liner out...

Melted the hemet liner and hair.

Bet there's some burn marks down through the frame and engine somewhere.

When the motorcyclist pulled off his helmet, the hair on the right side of his head was singed and his ear appeared blackened.

Zapalac said he looked dazed, asking, “Why am I stopped here?”

Other than the initial confusion, though, the man seemed coherent and unharmed, Zapalac said.

Yes. We are friends with the boy who was struck by lightning earlier this summer in IN. He isn't doing as well. :(

I've been close enough to a lightning strike to hear it click first. A big loud CLICK (and bright flash) with no boom . Too close for the air to have a shock wave. But you'll hear it from the opposite direction, on the return when it comes back in.

I've heard it... Sounds like a shotgun.

Dad and I were watching a storm off his back porch... thought it was over, so we both stepped off the porch at the same time and Click, BOOM...
