JackFlash
I was driving to work earlier in the week, on oneof those cold mornings where just to breathe,it stings your nose and causes your eyes towater. Six o'clock was coming fast and thetime clock was awaiting my arrival. That meansI was zipping along briskly so as to not be latefor work twice in the same week. This was one morning when nothing wasfalling from the sky, but I noticed my windshieldkept icing up when I switched the heat fromdefrosting the windshield to defrosting my coldfeet. I had heard of it, but I had never seen it.I believe what I had encountered was freezingfog. Approaching the tunnel in Westerville, on 161and getting onto I-270, there in the curve, Icould feel the front tires beginning to lose theirgrip. I could see tracks on the roadway andnoticed the car seemed to be acting a littlesquirrely. A slippery curve convinced me to back 'er down a bit, else I might find myself on a stretcher and being asked how manyfingers I see. So, for you hard core cold weather riders outthere, beware of freezing fog. It could ruinyour day. .
gsJack
Black ice probably, in my 30 years of riding year around here in NE Ohio I've only hit it once on my bike. Was going around a gentle curve in the left tire track and drifted towards the center of the lane and caught black ice. Slid nicely across to the other tire track and caught traction for a no drama finish. :-) Does keep one aware of the invisible dangers of winter riding.. RSparky
I actually think I encountered freezing fog the other week. Around Caesars Creek, it was just like a fog, only it caked on the truck.
