bigd
Going to be needing a 6-7 month apartment to live out of during the week, then move the family up at the end of the school year. If anyone has a line on a safe, clean place to live for cheap that'd be cool with a month to month or short term lease option, please let me know. Thanks! Gixxus Christ!
Can't think of anything off hand but some landlords will do a 6 mo around there...hard part is finding one in a decent neighborhood...if you can afford it I'd recommend renting out of akron proper...aim for green, uniontown, springfield, tallmadge, cuy falls...there really aren't very many decent neighborhoods in akron anymore...certain parts of Goodyear heights are ok but others are horrible. Ellet is still pretty good as are parts of North hill and west akron, but as a former resident of akron I suggest you go to the suburbs if you can help it.

Goodyear Hts, North Hill and West Akron I would avoid - as CSC said, some parts are ok but there is a lot of overlap with the bad parts. Ellet (east side of akron, bordering Tallmadge and Springfield) or the Merriman valley (bordering cuy falls/Bath) are really the only places I'd live within Akron proper. I'd look in the suburbs suggested above. If you find a specific place and want to know about the area, shoot me a PM. zx3vfr
West Akron is perfectly safe. Its east Akron to avoid
C-bus
I had an office near Fairlawn. Seemed nice to me.
CleaveTheGreat
West Akron is perfectly safe. Its east Akron to avoid This is false I had an office near Fairlawn. Seemed nice to me. Fairlawn is nice. Apartments can be pricey in that area. Then again, if you're coming from Columbus they might not seem all that bad. I guess it depends on how cheap you're looking to go. Edited November 21, 2014 by CleaveTheGreat

CleaveTheGreat
The entirety of Akron is a dump. I would avoid Ellet, Canton and the like, simply because the Central is bullshit at rush hour. Stick to someplace north of Akron. I believe the commute will be far better. Ehh it sucks all around. I drive from Stow to Canton every day and coming from the north into Akron is terrible.
zx3vfr
Ok, go live on Oakdale or crosby....west akron is pretty bad with the exception of highland square and Merriman /portage. that's basically downtown. West of Akron such as fairlawn and Copley are safe. And hell technically Copley is Akron.
CleaveTheGreat
Right.. I was talking about staying away from the Central and Route-8. Maybe stick to OH021, or 77N (south of 480)Gotcha. I would agree with that. Edited November 21, 2014 by CleaveTheGreat

CleaveTheGreat
Of course you would, because I'm smart as fuck. Not sure I'd go that far. You did willingly decide to live in Ravenna.
CleaveTheGreat
Do you understand how little I pay in any sort of taxes out here? My mortgage is less than my truck payment, including my insurance and property taxes. My truck payment is less than $375/month. Still not sure it's worth it

zx3vfr
A rather well known tire manufacturer Probably want to look into stow, Munroe falls or cuyahoga falls then for easy route 8 access. Even green wouldn't be a bad drive.
Gump
You should ask Marlboroman if he'll have anything available, if Marlboro or North Canton isn't too far. He's a hill billy slum lord. Edited November 22, 2014 by Gump
Bad324
A rather well known tire manufacturer What's your budget? Set on just an apartment or looking at townhouses and the like. These are my stomping grounds so I know it well

These are my stomping grounds so I know it well Nice, thanks for your help man - Not much at all. Plan is to do a $600ish apartment for like 6-7 months, then we'll sell our columbus house and buy something somewhere up there. I'll know the area better at that point, from having worked during the week up there and we'll be better educated to house shop.
