Never worked with the stuff. Seems easy enough tho, I'd like to make a cowl for my cb750 and it appears I just need to build a mold from foam and glass over it. What I'm wondering is what are quality materials to work with and how do I get them? Glass? Resin? Gel coat? I'd rather not have to do this twice So hit me!

Polyester resin eats regular foam, could use epoxy resin or vinyester.

If you glass over a foam male mold you'll have to bondo the part surface to get smooth. the alternative is to build a male smooth plug  , make a glass female mold and come out with an all glass smooth surface part.

Look up vacuum bagging for full strenght lightest weight parts.

I developed a urethane gel coat for wind energy and I've done quite a bit of compression molding.

If you can stretch fleece into the shape you want, you can saturate it with activated polyester and let it cure.

From what I've seen you create a barrier between the foam and the resin with masking tape and wax so the resin doesn't interact with the foam.
