I like them too. Haven't driven it yet, but I poked around one for a while and the EcoTech has a lot of potential. I drove an Ion Redline and wasn't impressed all that much, so I'm hoping the Cobalt SS feels a little more nible. I would love to test drive one on a proper course.

The suspension is stiffer and tuned for handling

The interior is much nicer.

I expect dealer offered performance packages because they want it to compete with the SRT-4.

These are the pics I took of the one I was in.

I'm going to ebb and recommend the V6 Mustang with a 5speed manual. The new chassis for the Mustang is supposedly very solid, the V6 will be a torquey 4.0L with 200+hp, and it's still RWD.

The Cobalt SS better be one hell of a car to drive to beat out even a base Mustang.

it should run a 14.5 in the 1/4, it shares a common engine and tranny with the Ion Redline, although it might be faster becouse it looks like is is a few hundred pounds lighter than the Ion. I've yet to see a V6 mustang run better than 16s stock.

98 and earlier v-6's are 16 second cars.

current v6 5-spd cars are good for mid 15's

the 05 will have more displacment than the current model, and as much hp as a 96-98 GT did stock, which could go mid-high 14's.

Of course, automatics are much slower in any of the above examples.

15.15 @ 92.0 bone stock.

15.05 @ 92.7 w/exhuast

14.89 @ 92.7 w/exhaust and CAI.

Oh and about the 4.0L Mustang:

It's an Overhead cam motor.

hp = 200@5400

tq = 240@3500

0-60 in mid-high 6's

1/4 in mid-high 14's

:cool:

I just thought it looked a little funny. The face of the rims look a little too flat. I know its not a PS, but it still kinda looks like it from that angle...
