Tinman
Stop right there, don't weld it!!! Sway bars are made of spring steel, although it can be welded, it won't last more than one twist.

Unleashed
You can get a stronger solid replacement rear sway bar from Maximum Motorsports or Steeda for @ $130.

desperado
Originally posted by recklessOP: i believe some of the factory mustang rear bars ARE welded. that's why they break... tongue.gif They may be at the factory, but then they are heat treated, something that DAMN FEW shops can do correctly. Buy an aftermarket if you are going to do road courses and the like. Leaving it off is also an option, but it will screw up the handling alot, so unless you just want to go fast in a straight line, and creep around corners, replace it, and upgrade the bushings and mounts while you are at it. It will make a world of difference in the way the car corners.
Skinner
If you put a larger/stiffer sway bar on the rear you will also want to put its counter part on the front put a over sized sway bar on hte rear only will seriously change how the car hands. will seriously increase understeer or oversteer (i forget which it will effect)
