Guest ElCaballero81 Posted July 26, 2004 Report Share Posted July 26, 2004 can anybody tell me how to go about finding the gear ratio in my el camino i know theres a way but not sure if i heard it right before like 1 full turn on the wheel should tell by how many times the drive shaft turns or is it 1 full turn on the drive shaft should tell how many times the wheel spins. could anybody help me figure this out. thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tractor Posted July 26, 2004 Report Share Posted July 26, 2004 Stolen 5.0's right that is the easiest way to do it. You will want to lift both tires off the ground then rotate it. You should probably do it a couple of times to get a good adverage. If you know you have a limited slip or spool or other traction device you should get a very actuate resault. For some reason open diffs tend to read a little off though. The best way to know is to open the cover and count the teeth on the ring and pinion gears and divide the pinion gear into the ring gear ie (ring gear teeth / pinion teeth) or (41 / 10 = 4.10 to 1 ratio) Evan Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
