lt1 swap

i'm swapping out my v6 for an lt1 out of my camaro.. about to pull motor out and put in the lt1.. i know i need to change everything from radiator back.. what should i do to the motor before i put it in.. i got right around 8 grand to spend. also does anyone know any shops around columbus that would be able to point me into the right direction as to what i should do to it..

Do anything to the motor that will be a PITA later, money permitting. ;)

 

At least get a cam in there, those are relatively cheap. If it was me, I'd do cam, heads, maybe more cubes, depends on cash. Or maybe do stuff to prepare for future power adders or nitrous, depends on what your goal is.

 

Are you getting a used LT1, or new? Is it rebuilt? If you want anything painted, powdercoated, chromed, etc. you could do that, like your block.

You have 8 grand for the total project? If you spent 8 grand on the engine you could have a nice 396, with a nice set of heads and cam. Otherwise you should atleast change the heads and cam before you install it.
