Guest Grits
I have a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS=POS. I bought the car with only 104K on it and 2 months later the rods start knocking . But anyway i was wondering if any other kind of engine besides the same engine could go in it cuze the engine for the car is around $1000. It has a 2.0 dohc, 420a, engine. Hwilli1647545487
What are your goals. Speed, or for it to just run?
Dweet
you could swap the 4g63t into that car if im not mistaken unless there is a huge difference between the RS and the GS-T, you might be able to find swap kits at www.dsmtrader.com
Hwilli1647545487
That swap is not a direct bolt in...
iwishiwascool
not at all a direct swap. Sorry to say, the 420 is your most cost effective solution.
Lustalbert
any idea why the rods started knocking? (metal in the oil filter, any other givaways?) for 1k, you may be better off to rebuild if it is just a spun bearing
Guest Grits
Yea i only need the engine just so it will run im not worried about speed right now. Thats not the car ill have for speed
Crash1647545504
get a new or failry used motor dont wast money on getting it rebuild. unless your planing on speed later and want diff internals
Guest 1sweet3.4
We were looking at my buddy's 97 eclipse and noticed something. Are the N/A cars and turbo cars engine bays reversed? it looks like when comparing the two models that the engines are 180 degrees to each other. Anyway, back to original question, just get a used motor from a junkyard. Wirthmans out on broad treated me real well and they are a pretty professional business. Yes, they are two different motors. 4G63 Mistu motor or 420A Dodge Motor.
