mjeosu27
I am doing a cd player install on my 2000 Mustang. It has a factory amplifier which I have bypassed. I have all the speaker wires hooked up to the cd player's harness, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out which wires (in my car) are the ground, power, and constant power (for the clock etc.) I am pretty sure that the black/grn stripe is the ground, but I am stuck on the other two. I have a haynes manual (which really has been no help)and I have searched all over the internet for wire color diagrams, and I am stuck. Can anyone give me a hand or point me in the right direction? I'll owe you a beer or something at Hooters. What I have found is that the 12 volt ignition should be a thin black wire, and the 12 volt battery should be green with black stripe. Still can't find those anywhere. Ahhh!! Help!!! Thanks...Mike
20G TSi
run wires to your fuse box if you cant find them behind the dash. Ground on anything on the firewall or something that bolts to the firewall. GL Jason

controler
Ford wiring can differ from day to day (at least that is what I've heard). Best thing to do is to actually test the wire with their a multimeter or a test light. You can test the 12 volt source, and the accessory light (turn the key on), just find a valid ground. If it sparks when the car is off, then there is your constant 12V+
Turbo Ben
The easiest thing to do is buy a wiring harness. Just keep the speakers up the way you have them now, and just use the wiring for the power.
Akula
I used to do alot of stereos, if you don't have a multimeter, go get one. If you blow up your electrical you will really be frustrated.
