Hello Columbus

Hey there. I'm hoping to be moving to Columbus soon but while here scoping out the area and interviewing for jobs, I have yet to come across any good riding roads.

I met some guys that claimed this one road was real curvy but it turned out to be what I would consider not curvy and not fun with its 35 mph speed limit. I've been living in Palm Springs, CA for the past 7 years and have a lot of curvy mountain roads by me so I guess my idea of curvy is a little different.

Anybody out there that could point me in the right direction before I head back west would be appreciated. I'm currently staying in Hilliard and have a day left to go exploring.

I'm also interested in track days so any info on sites to check out would help.

Last but not least, any good hang outs for when I do come out would be great.

Take care,

Anthony

Ohio sucks......seriously, the "best" roads are an hour or two east-south east and are no where as good as what you're use to. The up side is that Columbus is only an hour from Mid-Ohio raceway, one of the best tracks around and they have a multitude of track days all summer that are sponsored by STT(sportbiketracktime).

Welcome to the board and hope to see you at the track.

yeah man, there arent twisties in columbus. go southeast, down by the WV border and youll find some nice roads. not as stunning scenery as cali, but nice roads nonetheless. just try to forget about your old home, i hear alcohol helps...

and hey, weve even got a bike night at lodge bar to assist in that last endeavor!

if you know where too look there are plenty of nice roads. On and your gonna have to break posted speed limits in Ohio. I've never been to Cali, but I cant imagine they'd have a twisty ass roads with a 115mph speed limit :wtf:

Hi everyone. Thanks for the replies and info. I'm going to go drive to the 555 today and head south from Zanesville today and check out the Dragon Jr(?).

I didn't really expect to find anything like the roads in Cali but something is better than nothing.

Dweezel, Your absolutely right about the speed limits there but there's a HUGE difference from the road I checked out yesterday and from what I'm used to. In order to get the same feel on that road, you would have to do triple digits on what I considered a residential street (read soccer moms pulling out in front of you because who expects a rocket to come charging down the road). Where I'm at, we don't worry to much about that and even at only 80-90 mph those turns have you puckered up and loving it.

Thanks again!

Hey I was riding down 555 today! I ventured from Hilliard to Coshocton on 541, down to Dresden on 16 then Zanesville on 666 and took 555 to 37, 37 over to Lancaster. For some reason I always end up in Lancaster when I go ridin, whats that about? Nice ridin today. Saw a shitload of harleys/cruisers on 37.

What road did you check out that was like a residential street?
