anywhere to get chevelle parts? restoration type

Need some GTO parts - new to the area (gto = chevelle sometimes)

are there any big resto places where i could go and walk away with say, door hinges?

like the paddock in indiana...or a year one store

new to columbus and have no clue - trying to save on shipping (and i like to see the parts before i buy)

thanks

argh, i could use a set, too

i was at home until today - i hit springfield this morning (didn't see much otherwise)

i'm replacing all the hinges on my doors

convertible + heavy power windows = door swinging out when i take corners and nearly hitting other cars :)

i can re- pin them for you. i have the same problem with my 67 cougar but the old ford latches are fn junk i need a new set. but if you want to bring the car by and i can see how bad they are, they should be fixable

i spent 3 hours trying to get one pin out - of the top latch...at that

was a horrible nightmare, had to grind them in several spots

and even then, with both spots of the pin grinded off on both sides, i can't get one side out

i bought 3 of them new at springfield - they didn't have a 4th

i might try cussing at that one for a while

  • 8 months later...

yea, i know

i've got 4 cars

i hate year one or shipping - $15.00 a crack with handling - not to mention the wait

if i waited a few months between ordering stuff, it might be ok

but i'm impatient

i currently need one single clutch adjustment rod

a 5.00 part, maybe $10 that any restoration joint

maybe i should add, again..that i want to be able to go there to pick up the part

i know of 4 or 5 places in dayton (where i'm from)

all of them sell restoration parts for muscle cars exclusively

and at worst, there is 'the paddock' over on the indiana border

i'll grab a phone book tomorrow and look around - there's gotta be some around here

even if it's a place that *can* order the parts - don't have to have them in stock...just that they order frequently enough from places like year one that i don't have to pay shipping
