Akula
Let me clarify, who fly's for work, stays at hotels a bunch, that sort of thing. I am a US Air frequent flyer (Silver Preferred) but don't like their program and was wondering if someone had a good experience with a FF program. Also I am a Hilton Honors member and they RULE!! I only stay at Hilton properties and it really is nice to see the points adding up.

Balian
Yea, I used to do that in my last job. I just used the programs that I got from the acutal airline. Had a crap ton of miles from southwest and american airlines. Hilton honors is pretty bad ass..Free rooms after like a million points. lol
Akula
Free room after 15000 points (I earn about 7500 per week). It is more if you want to go to vegas, but Hilton does bonus points for higher tiers... Plus I get executive suites due to status.
Balian
Yea..The sad part is always being away. My car sat in the garage for 8 months straight. Hella good amount of time to mod it though.
Mensan
Let me clarify, who fly's for work, stays at hotels a bunch, that sort of thing. I am a US Air frequent flyer (Silver Preferred) but don't like their program and was wondering if someone had a good experience with a FF program. Also I am a Hilton Honors member and they RULE!! I only stay at Hilton properties and it really is nice to see the points adding up. Get a membership on ALL carriers. Find out which ones share points; for example, Northwest, Continental, and Delta all share FF programs, but you can usually only redeem through the carrier where you signed up. Continental is the best one, and you get upgraded for EVERY level of FF, unlike US Air. If you are silver on Conti, you also get upgraded on all Northwest flights. I recommend Continental if you are unhappy with US. I was Chairman preferred on US for four years, and almost made Gold on Northwest for every one of those years. US Air has a fare called "Go First" which will put you in first class for a lot less, but you MUST ask for it over the phone. Also, if you are travelling home, listen for when they ask for volunteers to take the next flight. You can tell your employer your flight was delayed, and you get a free ticket form the airline, dinner is paid for, and you get more hotel points for staying in a hotel that evening. Find a credit card that gives rewards for using it. I used Diners, but I understand AmEx offers the same type of rewards program. Even if you pay for the privelege (I had to), it is worth it. I MUCH prefer Holiday Inn over Hilton, just because of their rewards system. They would allow me to call and choose my own rewards with them. Reward points paid for my shower head in the bathroom ($85), my Weber gas grill, my craftsman ball bearing tool boxes, a week in a five star hotel in Madrid, the Auburn diffrential in my Lincoln, COUNTLESS airline tickets and hotel stays, day spa gift certificates for the wife, and I took out 5 people from CR to Ruths Chris, on me. Theres more but I forget right now. I have better tricks that I WILL NOT post publicly. PM me for details.

Akula
I am currently travelling for work and waking up this morning to "we are at yellow alert for domestic travel" was kind of fun. Tomorrow I think I will get to EWR about 5 hours early... My corporate travel policies don't let me use MY credit card for travel, I have to use the corporate negotiated card. I have certain hotel chains I am supposed to use and only one car company we can use for rental cars. However, if you haven't heard of Thrifty Parking Perks out at CMH you should sign up. You get parking for like $7 per day and it is valet, having a warm vehicle to get into in the winter is nice. Plus they do a points program so when you go on vacation you can get free days. Mallard
I travel a lot for work, but only fly occasionally. I use the Holiday Inn rewards program and so far it's been pretty decent. Eli - PM me some of your other tricks. I'll be flying a lot this coming fall-winter and I'm always looking for better way to scam more hotel points.
