Guest Mekkahfire
Im curious about the handling characteristics of an 03 Mustang Cobra. Anyone have first hand experience? Are they a wet noodle chassis?
Wease
Wet noodle chassis? Umm, the car has an IRS, Bilstein shocks, and is built to handle. Most people just happen to drag race them...
88lx5oh
irs rear end makes them handle better than a gt. they are abetter handling car than a gt period, but its still a mustang. wiht a set of springs, shocks they are a different beast. strut bars and any other chassis component will help out as well. but it isnt what a vette is out of the box. Science Abuse
Im curious about the handling characteristics of an 03 Mustang Cobra. Anyone have first hand experience? Are they a wet noodle chassis? Its a 78 fairmont with IRS. They handle bbetter then the GT...and thats about it. They can be made to handle better, but are limited by the fact that they are polished turds.
Tinman
Even with the IRS they are not the best in the twistys. Ford had to make several compromises with the suspension geometry to allow the IRS cradle to bolt to the vintage 1978 underpinnings.
Guest Hal
They handle pretty well, but they're no vette. A few suspension mods and they would be nice, but it would be a bitch to drive it right.
Mr. Jones
It will not prevent you from hitting u-hauls, regardless of suspension.

Dr. Apex
SCCA moved those cars from A or B stock down to F Stock this year I believe because they weren't competitive with the cars they were with.
Wease
Let me just follow up my comment with something else. It is no C5/C6, but it's better than most any other Mustang out there, and a lot of other cars on the road. It's also much better than my 2000 Formula was. But let's be honest, I really don't care about the twistys...
MrMeanGreen
You haven't seen how a Formula can really handle, and it's good in the straights too
