Lustalbert
What are they coated with, and are you opposed to redoing them after you get the oil off?
Guest Removed
What are they coated with, and are you opposed to redoing them after you get the oil off? rather not redo them jet hot coated...covered with some baked on oil cause of where i didnt have the evac system on it, it would build up pressure in the crankcase , push the dipstick out, etc etc.NOw the headers look like shit http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/mustang/100_0477.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/mustang/100_0488.jpg

Lustalbert
Jet hot is a ceramic coating, correct? I am not sure how well it holds up to chemicals, I would assume somewhat decent. Softscrub w/o the pumice, or orange hand cleaner could be worth a shot.

Tinman
I had a little luck with aluminum polish on my old Camaro headers. It took most of the stain off but only with a lot of elbow grease.
potentn2o
Last time my motor went in. My wife took a steel wool pad and some brake cleaner to them. Afterwards, she hit em with a little metal polish to bring back a little luster. They didn't come out 100% but were a ton better. All at the expense of some acrylic nails. The end result will depend on how much effort you put into them. Be prepared to rub and scrub. Good ceramic coating is usually pretty thick. You can do this a few times before you wear through it. Good luck.

Good luck. That seems to work pretty well. A friend of mine recently did that to a set of coated Flowtechs and they came out decent. Jeg's has a polish made specifically for ceramic coated headers. It might be worth a try after scrubbing also (although I have no personal experience with it.) http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?lang=-1&catalogId=10002&storeId=10001&categoryId=28577
