Since when has the rb26dett been stronger than the 2jz? 2jz makes more power stock, greater displacement, and is stronger internally. Plus more stateside support.

The rb26 is strong enough internally. And bigger displacement isn't always better, especially in twin charged motors. The rb also has plenty of support, not to mention parts are cheaper anyway if you order from Japan.

rb's max out at what 600ish at the wheels while supras have held over 900 on the stock blocks. And I honestly don't see how less displacement is ever a "good" thing (besides applications where larger displacement means a drop in redline, in which case the 2jz with proper valve springs etc. can still turn 10,000 rpm).

you can get any rb26 rb25 or rb20 parts state side, phase2 has anything you want. i have a friend with a rb26dett with the rb25 tranny all the supporting mods and mount kit ect, in a 240sx coupe its not as impressive as you think , only built they ....friends gt35 sr20 with maxwork vg tranny ect, with less money into blows the rb away. call mckinneymotorsports ive been to there shop before and they have an rb26 in a hardbody and every 240 at there shop , they can pre use the rb mount kit for the 240sx to fit the truck , thats if you you have deep pockets, rb26dett is 4,200 then you will need to use a rb25 tranny, which is another 800$ ......1200 for the mount kit , wireharness unless you do yourself is 300$ all for 280 hp.

you might want to do some research on the rb series...........they rb26 is known to make 1000 hp and crank it over to 10,000 rpms w/ valve springs and stock block...........hence why do you think in japan they put them in supras!!!!!!!!!! the rb26 is probably the strongest engine ever made/production of course! remember stock redline is over 1000 rpms higher on the rb26 8000 compared to 6800! you dont here them sticking the 2jz in the skyline now do ya? infact the supra owners over there are also known for ditching the 2jz for the twin turbo l4............hmmmm

The major reason they don't use 2jz's in skylines are 1. fitment issues (the 2jz turbo setup is a bitch to work on in rhd cars because of the steering rack being on the same side as the massive twin turbo setup 2. the jdm supra engine is much weaker than it's stateside cousin 3. skylines are AWD and the skyline getrag doesn't exactly bolt onto the 2jz 4. the 2jz is a heavier engine than the rb26.

The reason that supra owners in japan have swapped the 3sgte into supras is strictly for a weight distribution and reduction purpose. Especially in the jgtc series where theres a hp limit. And even then... they aren't twin turbo.

jdm 2jz are no weaker then a usdm , only difference in the two motors is one is map one is maf, jdm has smaller injectors / smaller cams/ and ceramic turbos , everything else is the same. i know for a fact that jdm and usdm share the same rods and pistons, head block ect. the jdm 2jz was just casterated.

yeah 2.5 twin turbo inline6, most are r154 5 speed, the same tranny used in the swapped 240sx good for 700hp and due to gearing. only takes 6 wires to get the engine started in a nissan product. stock its 280hp but you know how capable the jz motors are, 1jz is a cheaper rb26dett option used in alot of datsun owners/ 240sx owners , they share alot of the same parts as a 2jz and have state side parts due to alot of the mk3 swaps.
