Need good software help for DVD Recording

I have a Sony PC with a DVD Writer package that works great, but takes a while and it's somewhat limited.

 

Anyone know of a good software that I can make DVD's with to watch on TV's, PC's, etc....

 

My PC has Windows Media Center and records to Windows Media Player files.

I want to turn my Windows Media Recorded TV files into Divx if possible. I've found a two step and lengthy process to do so, but that's not a solution for me

 

Do you want to burn .VOB files, or transfer .avi and .mpeg to DVD playable files to watch on your home player?
