Ok, camouflaged, but hey, it is a real STI.

Here are the first spy photos of the 2009 Subaru WRX STI. Caught lapping at the Nurburgring test track in Germany, this STI prototype reveals some of the subtle changes in store for this top-of-the-line Subaru WRX. Up front, a mesh grille replaces the egg crate design on the standard WRX while the deeper front air dam has ditched its fog lights and been given a larger center air intake.

In back, there's a bigger spoiler of course, but the STI also gets a

tough looking set of quad tailpipes. Also note the bulging wheel flares

that cover up what look like lightweight double spoke wheels. Subaru

has been tight lipped about exact horsepower numbers for the STI, but

we've been told to expect around 325 horses from its turbocharged flat

four when it goes on sale next year.

Um I think that is 2008...... unless they are going to skip an STI model for 2008.

My car may go for sale. It should be holding it's value. As the new STI for 2 more years is fugly. I need to get an M3 I think. Or maybe a 335XI.

I do like it actually, in all black it doesn't look too terrible. I think it looks better than the wrx wagon, and I like it more than the vw gti. If you look at different performance minded hatches in the market it definitely beats them all in performance, the audi a3, vw gti, etc. The bmw 1 series should provide some brisk competition especially in 135 trim.
