s13
I got on my computer yesterday and the screen is pretty dark and hard to see. The contrast and brightness are all the way up on the monitor. Any Ideas? Thanks Jake

The contrast and brightness are all the way up on the monitor. Any Ideas? Thanks Jake Depending on your video card drivers you can sometimes adjust the level of gamma. Right click the desktop click on properties. Click settings tab. Click advanced... it should be somewhere around here if you can. Otherwise borrow someone else's monitor to test it out for a few minutes. Your monitor could be going...
Skinner
is it a desktop or laptop? If its a laptop your backlight is out. if its desktop what type of monitor do you have CRT (glass tube) or LCD (flatpanel)?
Akula
If it is an LCD monitor it is the backlight. You can shine a flashlight into the monitor to navigate but I am afraid you need a new one.
thorne
If it is a tube monitor sounds like a great time to upgrade to a LCD. If you don't have money for a LCD right now pm me I might have a extra tube monitor laying around.
Patrick
Check if the connection to the computer's okay. My little brother's computer has done that before.
s13
Glass tube desktop. And I checked the connections and it did nothing. I'll switch monitors tonight to see if it does anything.
tristanlee85
Have you tried adjusting the brightness and contrast on the monitor controls?
Patrick
Mr Tristan: The contrast and brightness are all the way up on the monitor. that implies that he did, if he knows the settings are all the way up.
