lawnman
I have a friend that has a 3 series BMW. It will just shut down at random times. Everything goes dead, nothing electrical will work at all and the car will not start. He says if he slams the car door or rocks the car it will sometimes cure the problem. Any ideas besides buy a lsx car ?
BrianZ06
I have worked on my old 95 325 a lot.Explain in more detail the problem. How old is the battery ? fuel pump ?
craig71188
Clean the battery terminals, grounds and power connections first-regardless of how they "look" (check the battery too just for good measure).....then start worrying about the bigger $$$ fixes... lawnman
Could a battery problem just cause it to stop like that ? I will tell him to check out the terminals , cables , etc. The car is a late 90's or early 00's 3 series vert.
craig71188
Not so much the battery as loosing the system ground(s). If you're doing connections - best to just to them all - clean and tight.
Guest Hal
1. Disconnect battery. 2. Attach positive cable to ground. 3. Leave it like that for about 20 mins. 4. Connect Battery. 5. Check all grounds. 6. Start car.
