My first house...

I just closed last Friday, the 19th on my first house, tons of work to do but I'm pumped.

It's a 3 bedroom cape cod house in Bexley, one block from the elementary which is awesome for my daughter.

Here's some before and some progress pictures...

I'm gutting the kitchen, bathroom, entire yard front/back, and doing lots of things throughout the house, including all new windows and HVAC, some plumbing and electrical and a new fence.

Luckily I have a little over a month before I have to move in and have family that knows how to do most of it, so we're doing most of it ourselves in spare time.

Friday night, after I got the keys...

Kitchen as its now... Replacing the plumbing, redoing some electrical, new tile floor, new everything! There were 5 layers of floor in this room, it was PITA to remove!

That's all for now, I'm over there almost daily, got some more yard work done but its been raining so no pictures. I'll keep updating this over the next month as much of the work gets done, but I just wanted to start this now.

Looks pretty nice. I'll post of pictures when we close on ours at the beginning of November. We definitely don't have as much work to do, but there's a bit.

Keep up the good work. Keep us posted with pictures though.

thanks guys, its a great feeling but overwhelming at the same time.

Yeah, I hear you on the time thing, I'm just hoping that in 4 weeks I can get the kitchen back together, hvac in, and have 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, the kitchen and living room cleaned and painted, those are just the core rooms we NEED to use, the rest of the house I can work on while living there. It just sucks that its so close to winter that I can't plant grass seed or anything and that custom windows take almost 2months to get done, oh well.

I'll definitely keep updating with pictures as things progress.

The address is 298 N. Stanwood Road, Bexley, OH 43209. It's a mess now but once its back together it'll be awesome.

The house has hardwood floors throughout that are in good condition, just need cleaned, and the entire upstairs is wood molding/door/windows, etc, it really flows nice. I'm going to try and continue the wood theme throughout the house by stripping the solid, 6-panel doors and the moldings/trim, we'll just see how time consuming it is.

Some nice landscaping, and powerwashing the house will go a long way in the spring I'm hoping. I just wanted to get all that ivy and brush out of the way, like you guys noticed you could barely see the house or the nice stonework on it.

i remember there being some sort of fire in that house. is the interior relatively new? this happened around '99 or so.

No, its sad the entire interior is like 70's/80's decor, which is exactly why I'm basically gutting the interior.

looks good.. ill be starting my bathroom renovation next week.

tearing out a wall, re drywalling the entire thing, tiling the shower and floor, new vanity, paint, crown molding and baseboard. ohh what fun.

oh yes, I tore out quite a few walls in the house, did all new plumbing and electrical and had to move some studs to put a larger medicine cabinet etc.

The marble will be 1 piece walls from floor to ceiling, I figured it'd be easier to clean and look more crisp, plus I've read that tiling walls is harder than floors.

good luck on your project, post some pics.
