  1. Lots of interesting people like to ride the metro after dark. I never rode it after dark. I was normally alone when I did take the metro. Alone, 20ish, white woman in a sketchy area is a bad combo. I do my best to avoid a potentially bad situation.
  2. http://www.athenapallas.com/ This is an awesome Greek restaurant! The prices are very affordable considering the area ($9-$15). They have table clothes, cloth napkins, and a nice beer/wine selection. This is just a few blocks from the Crystal City metro stop. I'm not a huge fan of Kebabs and Middle Eastern food. It is everywhere in D.C. I used to stay in D.C. a few times a month. The way to go for transportation is the Metro. A day pass is $9 for an adult. The cost is well worth it. I took my older son Carter to D.C. before preschool started this year. We only went for the day and spent maybe $75 total. We mostly bought gift shop stuff at the Smithsonian. He had a blast at the Smithsonian museum of Natural History (dinosaurs), Smithsonian museum of American History (worth checking out, lots of cool Americana, Car and motorcycle stuff), Smithsonian Air and Space Museum very, very cool. It was my third time checking out the Air and Space museum. I still saw new stuff in each one. I have yet to go to the International Spy Museum. I have heard that it is very cool. Dave and I did go to the Holocaust museum; it was much more than just WWII. Very sad, bring tissues. The Smithsonian Native American museum and Asian art museum are very cool Dave and I went a few years prior to that for a weekend trip. We stayed at the Hilton near the Capital building. It was ok; I think it was $150 a night. Honestly, a hotel is a hotel to me. Different areas of D.C. are very sketchy. The Hilton that we stayed in was no different. There were a lot of homeless people that lived in the park across the street. Just try and watch the general area where you stay. No metro after dark. (It doesn't run very late any way) Get a Metro map; they are easy to figure out.
  3. Gifts for the family: 46" Sony Bravia 1080p LCD Red 25 Anniv. Wii w/ Mario and bowling:) Dave was happy:) Lots of BluRay movies Gifts for the boys: 35-45 Transformers (18-25 small ones, 10 regular size, four large size) PJ's Hoodies Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, trucks, and planes Four row down hill drag racing track for the cars. It's sooo sweet and folds up. Lots of other misc. toys. Dave got me a set of Henckels twin pro knives with a nice knife block and a wooden cutting board. ( I wanted them) I bought Dave a pair of Tempurpedic slippers, misc other stuff.
  4. I went shopping last night at 11pm. I had planned to shop at ToysRUs since the doors opened at 10pm. There was a line around the building at almost midnight. I have no idea what is wrong with people. It was maybe 30 degrees out and raining like crazy. I suppose that the store was only allowing a certain number of people inside due to fire marshall issues. Anyhow I passed on ToysRUs, I went to the Ghetto Walmart on Main St. (Where Speeds once was) OMG, If you ever feel bad about yourself or life, go shopping at this store the bad feelings will be gone instantly. I mainly bought kids stuff. I bought a 16" bike for my older son, three of the scooters, leapster games, tons of pj's for all of the kids in the family, hoodies, lots of Blueray movies, ect. The deals, I felt were worth the nonsense. The check out line was quick. I bought a 46" Sony Brava LCD tv at Microcenter last Thursday for $599. (I was the first person through the door) Christmas shopping is 95% complete.
  5. I am soo pumped that Cars has a sequel coming out. We watch Cars at least five times a week, my boys love it and I do to. I can watch it a million times and never get tired of it. We have been collecting the die cast cars for the boys to play with. I went to the Disney website to get a complete list of all of the die cast cars and found out that there is a new movie coming out June 24, 2011!!! If I could buy tickets now I would! Could not find a movie trailer yet.
  6. This thread was titled "something for the ladies" hince for girls not for the bro's, well unless your into that kind of thing. I was just pointing out that the pics and guys posted in this wonderful thread had some serious man deficiencies. We (ladies) like men who are not fags or look like fags. Give me a hottie with a little dirt on him and a big gun anyday!!!
  7. This guy is HOT!!!!! A real MAN, not some homo. He looks hot with clothes on and tasty with clothes off:) http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i284/meagmerriman/hottie.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i284/meagmerriman/GerardButler48.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i284/meagmerriman/gerard_butler_pure_eye_candy.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i284/meagmerriman/gerard_butler_photoshoot-4091.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i284/meagmerriman/gerard_butler_naked_picture_2.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i284/meagmerriman/black_and_white_gerard_butler-4088.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i284/meagmerriman/alg_gamer.jpg
  8. Does it taste like raisins?
  9. Bump. I would do $200 cash.
  10. OMG $70 for a pair of shoes!! I hit Kohls when they have a sale and can normally find a coupon on Retailmenot.com or slickdeals.net for additional money off. My four year old son is 46" tall, weighs 52 lbs and wares a size 1 in boys. (the size of most 7-8 year olds) We go through shoes and clothes like crazy, so I try hard not to spend too much money. My sister in law and I swap clothes for our boys. It saves a ton of money on clothes that they barely ware for one or two seasons.

  12. Didn't know there was a fire. Not trying to start anything. Honestly don't care. Just thought it was something that would be an interesting topic for discussion. I would want to know if someone was bashing me or my family.
  13. I was reading the story about the craigslist hoax ad on WBNS.com. Someone posted stuff for free out of a house that was boarded up due to an arson. I clicked on the view comments link just for laughs. This is what I found. ((Comment # 17 by Fini)) Guy sounds like a whiner. Sorry Linn thought you should know. ____________________________________________________________ Fini “Do It To It Womern!” Since: Oct 09 204 Elyria ISP: Columbus, OH Reply » |Report Abuse |Judge it! |#17 3 hrs ago Oh! That PESKY Craigslist! It is very, very easy to get the posters account info and IP address from Craigslist, all I had to do was email them and explain what the inappropriate ad number was when someone posted a fraudulent ad with my business number in Casual Encounters... They sent me the poster's eMail address, jonny76linn@*****com (yes, the same Jonathan Linn that was caught going 123mph through Westerville attempting to evade law enforcement for the Route 71 Rolling Race Track Bust...and yes, he's on probation) and the IP address that came back to his employer on James Rd., he was at work (!!!...a little research into the company, you get what kind of place would hire HIM). I feel for the owner of the house, I am still getting calls from the incident I went through, some people are completely lame and doomed to be creeps, their lives of crime will come back on them tenfold. http://www.topix.net/forum/source/wbns/TL5RR2IUJ3L5ASB70
  14. http://www.wbns.com/live/content/nationalnews/stories/2008/10/03/croc.html?sid=102 SYDNEY, Australia — A 7-year-old boy broke into a popular Outback zoo, fed a string of animals to the resident crocodile and bashed several lizards to death with a rock, the zoo's director said Friday. The 30-minute rampage, caught on the zoo's security camera, happened early Wednesday after the boy jumped a security fence at the Alice Springs Reptile Center in central Australia, said zoo director Rex Neindorf. The child then went on a killing spree, bashing three lizards to death with a rock, including the zoo's beloved, 20-year-old goanna, which he then fed to "Terry," an 11-foot, 440-pound saltwater crocodile, said Neindorf. The boy also fed several live animals to Terry by throwing them over the two fences surrounding the crocodile's enclosure, at one point climbing over the outer fence to get closer to the giant reptile. In the footage, the boy's face remains largely blank, Neindorf said, adding: "It was like he was playing a game." By the time he was done, 13 animals worth around $5,500 had been killed, including a turtle, bearded dragons and thorny devil lizards, Neindorf said. Although none were considered rare, some are difficult to replace, he said. "We're horrified that anyone can do this and saddened by the age of the child," Neindorf said. Alice Springs police said they are unable to press charges against the boy because of his age. Children under age 10 can't be charged with criminal offenses in the Northern Territory. His name was not released because of his age. Neindorf said he plans to sue the boy's parents. The boy's small size is probably the reason he didn't trip the zoo's security system, which relies on sensors to detect intruders, Neindorf said. "I just want people to learn that they can't let their children go and run amok," Neindorf said. "If we can't put the blame onto the child, then someone has to accept the responsibility." _______________________ I think that this is too funny. I almost want to send the parents some cash to cover the cost of the animals. This is going to be my little boy in five years. lol I am shocked that he didn't go for any snakes. My son wants to go see the lizards and snakes everytime we go to the zoo.
  15. I love the show. I have the dvr set to record it every week. One of the few t.v. shows I watch. I watched the season opener I totally saw the baby thing coming. There's gonna be a little killer on the way.
  16. The humane society is over flowing with cats and esp kittens. They are putting them down daily because there are soooo many. It's moderately quick shot into the belly and within a minute or so they are gone. It's a pretty cat. Put a post up on the farming section of Craigslist. Farmers get cats dropped off on their land all the time. I'm sure someone could use a mouser in a barn. If the owner cared they would really try to find it. I looked for our cat Kibbles for three months after she disapeared. Fliers, trips to every pound once a week, posted up on Pet FBI and still never found her. Giving the cat away to someone who wants it is better than killing it.
  17. It bothers me that she cared that her clothes were wrinkled, the ironing board was the "cleanest" surface in that whole place. Freaking disgusting.
  18. Live in Reynoldsburg, work at the airport... 5-7 minutes depending on traffic lights I head to work at 5:30 am so there is very little traffic if any at all. 6-8 miles est. I honestly drive longer to go pick up my son from the babysitters house in Canal. Approx 15-25 minutes 10-18 miles depending on route.
  19. He's 2 years 8 months old so just over 2 1/2. He in 3-4 T clothes size 11 toddler shoes. He is a solid 45 lbs and over 40" tall.... aka he's a beast. He will be taller than me when he enters middle school. I am constantly buying him new shoes. Our new baby is due in three weeks (a girl) so hopefully she will not be a beast too.
  20. Sweet. Thanks for passing that along. I have a ton of kids stuff that my son has out grown that are almost new.

    Wind...

We moved over the weekend and I had to stop by the old house last night to grab my cell phone charger. Several branches off a tree in our side yard were in the yard. It was dark out and I didn't notice that our shed was GONE until the neighbor's boy came over and said something to me. It blew into at least two of the neighbors yards. (metal shed) Dave and Derek cleaned up some of the mess last night. We are going back over there today when there is daylight to see the rest of the damage.
  22. Floppy disc's the size of a cd case. My first computer the monitor, keyboard and tower were all one clump. Video games came in bulky plastic cartridges that would have to have the dust blown out of them if the game froze. Duck Hunt and the original Super Mario Brothers... knowing all of the secrets of the game. Fraggle rock, School house rock, rainbow bright, Punky Brewster. The Electric Company... Pre Sesame street. Educational show for kids. Having to go home when the street lights came on. Playing hide and seek, Tag, Kickball, baseball with the 20 other kids in the neighborhood. Bundling together over 200 Sparklers with bread ties, b/c fireworks in Ohio suck, Having and "Adult" (someone else's parent) light them causing damage to our retinas. Going for Bike rides with your friends all day on country roads with no traffic. Camping in the backyard. Drinking Mass amounts of Kool-Aid.
