Yea, I bought another. My dad was wanting me to go hunting with him this year, so it gave me an excuse to get another.

 

Mossberg 500 Slugster

12ga.

Mossy oak camo (it should be said that I'm not really a fan of camo guns, but figured this one would be dedicated to the woods, so I went with it.)

Red tipped = Hornady 300gr. SST $11/box of 5

Gold tipped = Winchester 385gr. Partition Gold $19/box of 5

 

...I'll be sticking with the Hornadys. They look cooler anyways.

How is the trigger on it? My 500 has an 11ty pound trigger on it, can't hit shit because it always pulls up.

Haven't tried it yet. Going to site it in tomorrow. According to an online ballistics calculator I found, this is the best zero I could come up with:

 

50yd = +1.00"

100yd = +1.00"

125yd = 0.00"

150yd = -2.00"

 

Should nail anything in that range fairly easily, I hope.

 

150yd effective range ain't too bad for a shotty, eh?

Decided to sight it in at 100yd. It's dead on at that distance. And you're right about the trigger. It's rough. You've really gotta sqeeeeeeeaze (hard) it to get a decent shot. As long as you do that though, it's perfection.

Hey copperhead if you want to lighten your 500's pull change the trigger return spring. Its a little difficult to pull apart the first time but its worth it. I have a pen spring in mine and i love the pull.

Nice gun, I want to get a cantilever rifled barrel like that for my 20ga Remington 1100, but the only one I could find was $375! I'll have to use rifled slugs for yet another season I guess...... I'm sticking to 50Yards as my longest shot.
