Back in may before I left for active duty I grenaded my posi at a truck pull. I just got back a few weeks ago and order a new powr lok posi for my dana 70. I got the old one out just fine and Im not going to touch the pinion gear so I dont think Ill have much problem with pinion depth. Now this is my first do it myself rear end since I left wyotech two years ago and I just want to be carefull.

I was going to shave the inside out of the old bearings just enough to slide onto the new posi and mock it up with the shims to check backlash. One of my bearing got sorta bent up when trying to remove it so Im not sure Im going to be able to use it for mock up. Should I have to worry about my backlash if I use the same ring and pinion, and use the same shims in there exact location on the old posi to the new one?
