Patrick
It's common along the coast. Flood protection, I would think. And unless you're in the bottoms, I don't think you need to worry about that here.
unfunnyryan
I'd think it would be funny if someone wrapped a chain around those steps and ripped them off of the house. Get up to get the paper one morning and you end up doing a 4ft drop.
BloodRed
#1, there is a ceiling in the garage, and a floor in my room. lol. its not netting im walking on. #2, unless youre an idiot and run your car with the garage closed, the fumes wont get stuck in. i cant think of a time a car sat running in the garage for more than a couple minutes #1 Doesn't matter, just like the cold making it up into your room fumes will do the same thing. #2 I am not just talking exhaust fumes. Fumes from that plastic gas tank for the lawn mower, cans of spray paint, glues, oils, all put off fumes and do leak, especially in warm weather. I am not saying it would ever be enough fumes to hurt you, but it is something I know I would never want to have right below my bed at nights. Esp when we are talking about my kids or anyone else in my family.
smokin5s
no not a true basement the granund level is considered the basement. I've walked through a similar house to that... it is in fact a basement, brick and all
Akula
a few people die each year with their car running in the garage, with the door open, in the room above the garage.
LJ
because houses like that are cheaper and people buy what they can afford to fit their family
