Sully
My guess is that we just have to claim it as income when we file next year, which is understandable.

SpaceGhost
That is what happened in 2004 when we got the $300 one in 2003. Remember you also always have to claim your state refund each year on your federal income filling.
Casper
Oh nice, they edited it. It was between these two paragraphs: The package, which passed the Senate 81-16, will send rebate checks to 130 million Americans in amounts of $300 to $600 for people who have an income between $3,000 and $75,000, plus $300 per child. Couples earning up to $150,000 would get $1,200. "My team will be sitting down with the IRS tomorrow, and the IRS, right in the middle of tax filing season ... will be working to get checks out," said Paulson, who helped broker the deal. I have never claimed my state refund as income
excell
I know they've been going back and forth about if it'll be "free" money, or simply an advance, so they could have had old info.
