hpfiend
Hey guys/gals... Anyone know anything bad about these particular vehicles? Both have timing belts instead of chains correct? Thanks! Andrew
TTQ B4U
just check the tranny on the particular one you pick. the 5spd autos had a recall back in 04 or so. make sure it was performed.

Andrew I think so. I've yet to see a honda that uses a chain.
sol740
RSX uses a chain doesn't it ? I believe the crv does use a chain, since it also has a k20.

I did have a CR-V engine in my civic but it was out of a 97. It only had a belt.
87GT
Look what I found on google http://www.hondacarforum.com/honda-technical/29140-does-2003-honda-cr-v-have-timing-chain.html
Scotty2Hotty
Never liked either personally, but I'd go with the Pilot. Atleast the pilot has more room.
carl1647545492
I believe belts replace at 100k on the 6cyl,the CRV I dont know. We were looking at both those 2 vehichles a few months ago but ended up going with a Odyssey for the 2 kids sake,if it was just the two of us the CRV would be it for sure. Oh and the dealers want stupid money for a 4 year old Honda! especially the CRV and Pilot,I found a dealer down south that would retail a new base CRV for sub 20k! Tripleskate
Two of my friend's parents have Honda Pilots and one of friend's Dad has a CRV. I've heard mostly good things of the Pilot but the CRV is another story...

hpfiend
yes- I know our Acura (Honda) RSX-S has a timing chain instead of a belt which is why I asked. Thanks for all of your opinions and information! Def will check the tranny.. Andrew
FourString
Slightly off topic but I thought the S2000 had a chain as well?

TheHaze
I had a CRV and loved it. Though, I would have rather had a Pilot.
jfiveeight
i drove a pilot for 8 hours yesterday, it's a really nice suv. It drove fine and was comfortable, good visibility, handled well, sat a little higher than "smaller" SUVs, lots of room and got around 22MPG. edit: to make this a decent post.
