Guest tbutera2112
3 men go into a hotel and pay $30 for a room. Each paid $10 and went into the room. A while later the receptionist realised he had overcharged the men, and the room was only $25. He sent the bellboy back to the room with $5. The bellboy didn’t know a fair way to split $5 evenly, so he kept $2 to himself and gave the 3 men $1 each. Each man paid $9 for the room, 9x3 = 27. Plus the $2 the bellboy kept to himself. 27+2 = 29. Where has the other dollar gone?
2highpsi
I hate that riddle. The guys did not spend 9 each on the ROOM. They spent 9 each TOTAL, which INCLUDES the 2 dollar tip.

Science Abuse
The key to solving word problems is getting rid of the words. "Where has the other dollar gone?" gives readers the false impression that all the present math is right.

87GT
i still dont get it guess im thinking about it to much It is too simple to not understand. My math skills. LET me show you them. 30/3=10 Then the cashier realized it was $25 25/3=8.33 8.33 x 3 = 25 25+3 (1 dollar times 3 men)=28 28+2(that the bellboy kept)=
