A few months ago I was having weird fevers that come and go ranging from 99-103 degree then would go away in a day or so. I would have no flu type symptom's , no stuffy nose, just a fever so high I would forget how i drove home, and forget things. It went away for 3 weeks and just thought it was some weird virus I got working at a corrections type setting whem alot of the guys inside were also sick. After the 3rd time I was starting to get scared my girlfriend and friends were making fun of me saying I have aids and all this stuff. I visit my doctor and let her know whats going on, she does her little check up thing then recomends for me to get a complete blood check/ std check since I have not seen a doctor since 2005 since I was in the military. Since then ive not been sic again . Today I finally recieved all my blood work back everything was negative but on the list it said

Liver function: Borderline elevated LFT/ recheck in 3 months

Ok now im freaking like wtf I have liver issues and run to the computer and check the internet for what "LFT" its for liver function test the website I was on said it could be things ranging from the state of your liver . What could be giving me high lft's at only 25? In the past few years since I got out the military ive gained alot of weight compared when I was in and im not as active. 6'3 115lbs im not fat, but im pretty chubby compared to I use to be 165 lbs could this lead to issues with my liver? When I was younger in college and the military I did my fair share of drinking, nothing too crazy, no hard liquor everynight, could this already catch up to me? I do not drink anymore so im thinking its either my gain of weight because of fatty foods and lack of exersize or past benge drinking? Any ideas would be good

Elevated liver function could be Hep a, b, c, just the common flu, or many other things. Go back for the recheck and if it is high again at 3 months, go see a specialist.

I am by no means a medical pro.

I started my new job feb 9 then it started to happen after this, all my shots are all still current when I was in the military.

Did you get any new vaccines? For Hepatitis? Are you taking any statin drugs (Cholesterol)?

I almost forgot....

Do you take over the counter or prescribed pain relievers ?

LOL... Your 6'3" and "215" and your a little chubby...

I must be fat at 6'1" and 215

I did not mean to offend anyone by that, some people have alot of muscle and weight more, for being asian and 215 my 215 does not look right on me because its more not eating good weight, if it was weight from muscle it would be different story.

I have the same borderline elevated LFTs. My Dr. said, "meh".

I am fine. Just means if you want the really good life insurance you will pay like $5 more per month.

Did they ever tell you what the elevated LFT's were from? or what they could be caused from?

Best bet is is not to worry about it and just get it checked again in three months. There are so many causes of that, heavy exercise, diet, Tylenol, Hep, and so on.

i actually agree with rick on this one---could be anything, absolutely anything--but most likely nothing. just go back for the repeat labs, and i'm sure they'll be normal.

some lab values/medical information are more helpful when looked at several times over a long period of time, and others are more useful when looked at in real time, just once. liver function tests fall into the category that are usually looked at over a long period of time (to look for trends), unless they are really abnormal. in today's "sue happy" environment, doctors are forced to cover their ass more than ever--that's why the repeat tests were suggested---to cover the ass of the doctor in the 1 in a million shot that they actually signify a true abnormality in a healthy young man

stop freaking out (avoid the internet), and go back for follow up tests
