Dave1647545494
rear main seal look kinda nasty when I got my car so I changed it when I did the clutch scince then I've replace it two more times and keeps leaking. any secret to keeping it dry? I've been installing it like any other seal dip in oil install and wipe clean. any input I'm sick of pulling the damn trans out all the time

rl
Is there a groove on the crank? If so ready sleeve it. I have had a few that where impossible to keep from leaking a bit, it sucks. I always have problems when they get line honed.
Guest 614Streets
Heres a good look at what Lasota is talking about doing. http://www.microsleeve.com/demo.html They make these for axle ends also.
Guest Removed
plus 1 for the sleeve.. tho i had one that had crazy crank walk(stick cars loading the thrust bearing) that would walk the seal out after so many launchs... sleeve it
kirks5oh
make sure you coat the flywheel bolts with sealant. last time i changed out the rear main in my '87 (10 years ago), i did not do this, and had oil leak from the flywheel bolts. after i sealed them up, the problem went away
Dave1647545494
I've seen the sleeves for axles and front crank seal I'll look into a sleeve kit for the rear main and try it worst it can do is leak again
