Our tire shops have a full range of all season tries from $40 on up, but we don't have enough dedicated snow-tire-buyers to justify anyone stocking a full range. Yeah there a pretty penny but they are not disposable tires, and there the best snow tire ive heard of. Thats of course if you have a extra set of rims to let them sit on year round. One of the secrets of the compound is that it doesn't wear smooth, it "chunks" on a small scale, making it more ductile. excell Posted October 29, 2008 Report Share Posted October 29, 2008 My man E, Derek hooked me up with a set of Winterforce (made by Bridgestone) a few years ago for my GTP and they were awesome. I could hold boost in the snow. If I could afford, I'd have a set for my Trailblazer (4WD be damned). I'd have a set for the Ion if we planned to drive it in the snow, but carpooling rocks. One of the things I'd liked about the pacemarks was the threadblock profile. Apart from getting good snowgrab, the block go higher up the sidewall to aid in running through deeper crap. Don't know the exact model but whe I do know is: 1) They work pretty darn well for what I believe was $55 a tire 2) They have the biggest sidewall lettering I've ever seen. You wan read the words Pirelli and Winter half way across a parking lot. Print's not white..just large bilboard sized writing. Why on earth they did that is beyond me. 3) They've lasted 2 winters of constant driving with minimal wear showing even with the -2 degrees of camber that car has all around. We've got Dunlop Wintersport M3's for the M3 (ironic no?). They're OK but honestly I don't even know why I put them on each winter. BlizzaI lm25 /thread Blizzak Look for a used set online. You can find good deals with or without wheels. Since they're only driven on for maybe 2 or 3 months out of the year in this area, they should have a good amount of tread life left on them. If you search around pretty well, you can find great deals. I found my Blizzak WS-50's with wheels for $100 TOTAL and I've used them for 2 seasons so far and barring any sort of road hazard this winter, I can't see why I couldn't get at least 2 more seasons out of them. I put mine on in January of this year and had them off after the snow from the March 8th storm melted. One of the main things about these tires is that they're designed to be driven in sub 40 degree temps, not really above. They do have a pretty soft sidewall, so they're not going to allow you to corner like your 40 series tires. But they have great wet/snow capability and even in the rain, you can "feel" them working better than any performance or all season tire. This of course is just from the experience that I've had personally with my WS-50's for the last 2 winters, and I know the LM-22's and the Winterforces are really options as well.
