A customer brought his C6Z up from Louisiana for the full RPM Auto-conversion and tune. We installed a smaller pulley on his Vortech SC and re-tuned it for the added boost. She made just over 700rwhp through the Auto trans :)

He got the car back Mon/Tues of this week and didn't waste any time getting to the track. Here are the results:

Wow. Great job, IPS!

So...this is ANOTHER C6Z auto-conversion???

Yep, same set-up as Mark & Jason's cars (More or less). We are working on a TX car (C6Z) doing the same thing right now and then cars coming from FL and CO up next. Based on the results it has been a rather popular set-up :)

Why does the Auto Trans swap seem to be so popular with the C6Z? Normally it's the other way around.

Because of driveability. When your talking about a modified car, it's much easier to live with an automatic then the aftermarket clutches available for the cars.

It also makes the cars faster and much more consistant in the 1/4 mile. It's the main reason Mark and I have the fastest two in the country by over 1/2 a second. That and IPS did a great job on the TT setup allowing us to beat the shit out of the cars all summer with no problems! There are a few guys putting down at or close to 1000rwhp and getting no where near the ET's or MPH that we achieve with the auto's.

so how often is he gonna be pulling the tranny out to get fixed?

The trannys are rated at 680-700whp and with the added boost he made like 701 or 702rwhp. Time will tell but I predict his will last quite awhile. Certainly MUCH longer than in a car making 1050rwhp :)

Whats this conversion going for? $ Did he tell you what numbers he was putting down before the conversion?

IIRC it was like 66xrwhp but that was with 2psi less boost and obviously on a different dyno.

Unlike the Z06 from TX we are doing now, we don't have an apples-to-apples comparo on what the drivetrain loss is with the Auto-conversion.

cause its fun..

i was just wonderin if they changed trannys or learned what to do better since the other vettes where pulling trannies every week.

They have gotten much better since the inital builds. The other two cars, laid smoe ground work for improvements. The 4l65 is no turbo400, so we work with what is available and move forward. the last transmissions had around 30 passes at around 800-1000 wheel before they had any issues! Its only going to get better.

wouldnt it be better to swap a t 400 in it then?? i mean fab up a swap plate and then sell that too. It's win/win

You can, they just do not fit with out actully cutting/ massaging the car. They require a different torque tube, adapter plate, out put shaft.

It has been done though.
