kenny
Is that as big a piece of shit as the 2nd gen? It's Buick powered, so no.
Duff1647545513
You can find a c5z for a very good price anymore, so I would go for that if you have the little extra cash.
smokin5s
I don't get why everyone hates LT1's so bad.... LS1's do make more power and are easier to work on, but LT1's can be very reliable and make tons of power. honestly man, I'm going to agree with what you said, if money isn't an option, buy a vette.... if money is an option, go with a camaro. nurkvinny
You guys are wrong. I had a PM when I was selling my LS1 Z28 saying I should trade him for his 94 LT1 Z28 because, "my year was under-rated and your year is way over-rated on hp... mine actually makes the same as yours." 98transam
Vette, lighter to start with and I dont think half the motor sits under the windshield.
sol740
The only thing you really need to consider is whether or not you like to turn ... either left ... or even to the right. You like that ? Vette.

Nitrousbird
Give me a break; this guy is somehow cross shopping a C5 to a LT1 Camaro??!! Equal miles/1997/condition, and the C5 will easily be 2+ times as expensive.

ISpoolOldSchool
What's wrong with a 98? just not as good of a starting point, the computer system is a little less sophisticated, the had a worse flowing head with perimeter bolts on the valvecovers, and the oil passageway was slightly different. it was just a first year car, it had some flaws. if you want a f-body 2001-02 is the best setup stop in my opinon, but if you modify heavily it doesnt really matter. 01-02s had no egr (LS6 intake) and a better exhaust setup but... if you want to put the cash out the vette would probably be the better way to go, as mentioned earlier, if you want a cheap drag car, get the f body, but the vette will be the better handling car

This doesn't become much of an issue for most people. By the time the 01-02 model year came around, GM had developed the LS6 engine and had worked out small things like oil pump failures. All of the other differences make no difference with a few mods, like headers and intake. The cams are really close between years.

cptn janks
If you want a cheap drag car = Camaro If you want an all-around sports car = Vette if you have a mullet = camaro if you are 40 and balding = corvette just kidding... id go for the vette personally. That just goes to show that these stock bottom ends might be really good, but they do have limitations. My poor car only has 53k miles on it with a rebuilt tranny, rear end, and now engine but that's what happens when you beat on them.
kirks5oh
go for the vette, unless you plan on towing a double wide. then the obvious choice is the camaro

AWW$HEEET
Maybe a retard question, but aside from valve covers that say "corvette", is there any difference between the LS1 in a Vette vs. the LS1 in a Camaro?
