Cold weather + diesels

Had a cummins 400 in one of our M916s that was a slow starter below freezing. When you would cank it, nothing but smoke, but it would start eventually. Once it started to smoke alot, keep the pedal mashed, let off the starter, and it would run at about 200 RPM for a few minutes then start picking up speed and idle on its own. The entire motor pool was a giant haze for about 30 minutes.

My 6.2L Silverado didn't start yesterday morning either in a cold temp of 5*. Ended up borrowing a neighbor's car for the day.

However, in a balmy 17*, it started up fine today.

I was really feeling the 17*, busted the speedo out and tanned my ass off.
