Better look at your taxes real careful, we got that 1600 tax gift in the summer and turbo tax takes that right out of our return, we look like we are getting $17 back. I said in the summer that this was an advance on your 09 return. Looks like I am right. We did ours online with turbo tax and as soon as you check yes that you got a check it takes it right out of your return. Don't spend that money too fast.

I honestly dont care about giving the government the free money. I wont save that amount over a year. The government allows me the discipline to save it for me me. Sure they reap the rewards of earning interest for free money off of it. But I am not losing anything. The money spent in a large sum or trickled throughout the year is still the same amount of money. It allows me to buy something I normally wouldnt seeing as though there is a significant amount vs the small amount each month. The government uses the money and if it bothered me enough that they already have enough money I would do something about it instead of complaining. So I dont care about the govt's money. I can see your point if people could actually save it. But I dont see anyone who takes the money they would be over paying on taxes and saving it and earning the interest themselves. So I say over pay every year and get the 10k back each year.

 

 

I know this might seem like a stretch, but why not simply deposit $xxx/mo into a decent savings account. Hell, orange usually offers up a 3.5% - 4.x% savings account. At the end of the year you can have even more money!

Everyon, this is NOT true.

 

In the middle of doing my taxes. They have you enter it in because if you didn't get it for some reason you may be able to get it now. Hope Not Brian reads this because it looks like one of the things that may allow you to get it now is if you didn't get it last year because you were serving overseas. I just entered mine in (the full $600) and it changed NOTHING. If it did change something, you need to check your tax return stuff because you are getting hosed.
