How can there be no threads with the word "oil" in them at all? Oil in question is Mobile 1. Car in question has been in storage for 12 months. Fresh oil prior to storage. Not run at all during the storage period. Pulled out of storage and now has a couple hundred miles on it. Change the oil? This gives me an excuse to change brands too while I'm at it. kirks5oh Posted March 9, 2009 Report Share Posted March 9, 2009 change it. i always go back and forth with this. i drive my cobra less than 3k miles per year. i end up changing the oil every 6 months--i should probably change it every 3 months, but i can't justify changing it with less than 1500 miles on it, when it looks perfect every time i change it. i change the oil on my GTO every 4-5 months, and i put about 3k miles on it between changes--oil looks fairly dirty when i change it too. i use mobil 1 5w-30 on both cars, and have been very happy with it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

From what I understand it's got alot of the same technology that was put into the TWS motorsport oil that Castrol developed in conjunction with BMW for the rod bearing issues on M3's. Feffman Posted March 10, 2009 Report Share Posted March 10, 2009 I went to Elf (well Total in the wife's Jeep and my Saab, they own Elf and are re-branding some Elf products) synthetic oils last year from the Performance Oil Store (www.PerformanceOilStore.com). They reduced the levels of ZDDP (Zinc DialkylDithioPhosphate) in their oils due to concerns over causing issues with catalytic converters, however those ZPPD are the anti-wear additives that made it such a great product to begin with. I have always used mobil one, simply beacause thats what mitsubishi wants me to use, but if i can get more protection/performance/lubrication then I would look into switching brands.
