Qtr_pndr
don't think they had the v10 in 96 if it is the 7.3 then it is the power stroke if gas then it is the
Guest Removed
don't think they had the v10 in 96 if it is the 7.3 then it is the power stroke if gas then it is the 460 no the 460 is a 7.5L. the 7.3 is the powerstroke only 4 motors pull up for that. the 4.9 I-6, 5.8(351)v-8, 7.5L 460, and the 7.3 turbo PS. Dave1647545494
Anything he should watch out for? gas stations every 150 miles or so
zeitgeist57
I swear he mentioned a 426...thought the only possible avenue was a 7.3L gas engine. Never thought it might be diesel, but in looking at the options, I guess the only possible avenue is the IDI diesel...
Ry_Trapp01647545522
the 7.3l diesel is 444cu-in, and 426cu-in would be 7.0l. he probably saw the 460 and thought it was one of fords more well known big blocks(427/428/429, since ford never had a 426). if im not mistaken, it should be backed by a C6, which as far as i know(not much, lol) are pretty bullet proof. if its 2WD then it has the twin I-beam suspension. as old as it is, it will probably need a complete rebuild(if its not rebuilt, they will wear the shit out of tires). thats the only thing i can think of though. Clifford Automotive
yeah if he goes 460 expect to see the gas station every 150-200 miles depending on how his foot feels that day. I can max my tank out at 230 if im easy on it... The 460 pulls really nice. Ive put mine though a beating. Its pulled anything from horse trailers to 5th wheel dual car trailers loaded down. All without a problem.
Clifford Automotive
Oh BTW, im at 200k now and just looking now at putting another engine into it. Its now burning oil and leaking a little freeze out the front gasket between the block and waterpump housing. Even still its pulling strong. zeitgeist57
I remember TRUCKS doing their Bronco project with a junkyard 460. Seems like a stone-simple torque monster. I'll check with him to see if he bought it or not...
Clifford Automotive
Oh they have plenty of torque for sure. Ive pulled 12 round pine trees out, at the house with it.
