DaddyBuiltRacing
So my dad stumbled into this awesome deal. Theres a company in Licking County that is buying old trash trucks, revamping them then reselling them. He just so happens to know the owner of that company. Anyways they have 52 trucks that need to be done, and they are paying 4k a piece...you do the math thats 208k dollars. Yes Hasan american dollars not arabian monies lol Anyways figured i'd share what I have been doing the last couple weeks and what I will be doing for a while 1 They brought us 8 today and said they want them done in a month...yeah gonna be pulling long days http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/trashtrucks.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/moretrucks.jpg 2. We already got one done last week heres how it came out: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/maskedoff2.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/truckmaskedoff.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/truckpainted.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/dumpgtuck.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/Sealer.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/trash3.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/trash2.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/trash.jpg Edited March 28, 2009 by DaddyBuiltRacing
DaddyBuiltRacing
3. On the new ones they wanted the wheels black and white. Let me tell you this is a bitch to do. You ever picked up a semi tire and rim? They are about 250lbs a piece. I did the first one off the truck, then said screw that i'll just mask em off lol. Heres how they came out Before Paint: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/before.jpg This is the only one I took off the truck, this is what it looked like after paint: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/rim.jpg Back on the truck, masked off ready to paint the hub: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/masked.jpg Hub Painted: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/painted.jpg Wheel Completed: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/finished.jpg
DaddyBuiltRacing
And heres the current one were doing. First we had to scrape as much old paint off as we could, then we had to sand blast it, after that it was put in primer only on the rust spots to help the actual primer seal later. Truck Scraped off: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/rust.jpg Sand Blasted: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/before-1.jpg Other Side Sand Blasted: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/truck.jpg Spot Primered: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/primered.jpg Bed put in primer, cab prepped for paint: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/cabmasket.jpg Cab Painted: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/cabpainted.jpg

FormulaMatt
Why, Why would they want the things painted white? Even if its the company colors...white? Nice work by the way.
Main3s
Why, Why would they want the things painted white? Even if its the company colors...white? Nice work by the way. Maybe the white paint was cheaper? Interesting project you have there, looks good.

wnaplay1647545503
Sherwin williams has a paint that seals rust forever I believe. Powerwash and paint. get them all done in a day.
iwashmycar
nice, looks like a helluva project
DaddyBuiltRacing
Honestly the thing that takes the longest time is prepping such as masking off. Once you sand blast it then power wash it, all you really have to do is give it a sand to allow the primer to bite. My dad has been doing paint for 20+ years so he gets the ultra hookup on pricing. Some of the trucks are going White on the cab, others are going blue. Some are even going all white. White is nice because these trucks are not perfect body wise so it hides a lot of shit. Yeah 52x4k=208k, i'll take it lol. We have had several truckers come into the shop wanting their semi/dump truck Frame, Cab and Trailors painted now. Hopefully it just keeps on rolling. It only takes us 2 days to get 1 truck done. So 2k a day isn't bad.

DaddyBuiltRacing
Got one done yesterday let me show ya how it came out: 1. Started out by sandblasting it, then had to fill in all the rusted spots with bondo to make truck nice and smooth. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/bondo.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/truck-1.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/truck2.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/side.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/rear.jpg 2. Once that was done it was time for the truck to go into primer http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/finalprime.jpg 3. After a little lunch action we came back to the shop to finish the damn thing!! Ford Fleet Blue is the color this one got. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/startingtospray.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/finalpaint.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Trash%20Trucks/truck2-1.jpg Next one is going either all white or white and blue like this one. Were waiting to hear word on who bought it. Going to start body work on it tomorrow. The one after that is going all white with a red stripe from what I am told.
