Ryan218
been battling this for a week now. before it would peg the temp gauge ( no good ) bleed the system and then it shows half on the temp gauge when cruising around. though ok I'm good pulling onto my street it just keeps climbing and climbing. radiator fluid boiling over in the over flow tank. im at a loss. thermostat is not stuck closed or open. checked it and put a new on in. fan clutch seems really lose and im thinking that could be the problem. also my timming light is broke so i cant double check the timming so going to go get a new one and get that checked out. anything else any of you can think to check? water pump has about 3,000 miles on it. Cordell
Get the car up to temp and see if the radiator has any cold spots in it, make sure fan is spinning like it should be, block test. An infared thermometer would be a great tool to have here taking measurements at different points in the cooling system. Sounds like I'd be checking for a head gasket honestly. Ackbar00
Id start with the fan myself. Have another you could test with? You could allways do a Taurus fan upgrade at this point, it is relativily cheap. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Taurus-4500CFM-Two-Speed-Electric-Cooling-Fan_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1171Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem170323644391QQitemZ170323644391QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Dave1647545494
the best way to check for a blown head gasket is with a block tester it fits down in the radiator where the cap goes and it has a chemical in it that changes color if the head gasket is blown you can buy one pretty cheap from napa also check to see if coolant is circulating the impeller could have come undone from the pump shaft its just peened on

Dave1647545494
when the car is running you should be able to look down inside the radiator with the cap off and see water flowing out of the tubes.... if the water is not flowing the pump is hoed
