zeitgeist57
I was recently informed that my parents are giving my wife and I their 2005 Dodge Caravan FOR FREE. It's got over 100k miles on it and in good condition overall, and with their interest in getting a new car, they figure a gift to us is worth more than crap trade-in value. Of course, I'm very happy with their decision. However, my mother recently rubbed the drivers' side door against a parking lot pole. She used some rubbing compound to remove the yellow paint, and the door skin is caved pretty badly with a few scrapes. Rightfully so, she doesn't care much since we're getting the car, and though I'm not happy about the dent I can't complain...free car, right? Anyway, I'll defer to Kevin Clifford for the dent repair/paint quote, but are there any decent auto recycle websites that I can search for a color-matching door? Which option is the best? FYI...it's a relatively base model Dodge Caravan with dark green ext/gray interior...

evan9381
might be cheaper than you think. a couple years ago i slid on black ice, hit a phone pole, took out my drivers side fender, rear view mirror, and dented both doors...i found a place up towards kenton (i think thats the town name) that i got both doors, mirror, and fender in the same color as my car, for $700. my insurance deductible was $500 so it cost me an extra $200 and my insurance never found out and my rates stayed the same

BloodRed
Well I guess it would depend on how badly the door has been damaged. You will want to replace if the internal safety supports have been damaged in any way. It is always better to be safe than sorry if you happen to get into another accident with it. zeitgeist57
Well, the power window mirror in the drivers' door is on the fritz occasionally as well, so I thought getting a whole new door would be better. After looking at Car-Parts.com, it doesn't seem like a donor door is a better deal... When I get the van, I'll take pics and post it up...
