Driftz161
well... i went & ordered all my parts... hopefully they'll beat me back from this god-forsaken place. when i get home in september... i'll be spending a day or so in the garage, putting everything on. hopefully... it all goes well, and i can have it tuned relatively quickly. not pictured are the power commander 3, HID kit, CF/titanium exhaust (already on the bike), and Velocity Stacks, windscreen, cf tank protector, & spike windscreen bolts. heres what ive got either sitting waiting or on the way... Driftz161
yes. mostly started because im tired of seeing blue & white k7 600s... then i just got a lil carried away. wanted to replace everything white on the bike... but kept finding more stuff i wanted. gotta spend the deployment money on something if i was really worried about trying to make it a ton lighter... i woulda stuck w/ the 3-piece cf race fairings i originally picked. this helps retain factory functionality
dover
but its still only a
Driftz161
you act like that matters. apparently you've got the "bigger engine" mentality. im a 5'7, 150 pound guy. this bike is perfect for me. i dont need a busa. i grew up racing, and ride what im comfortable on. i hate busas, owned a 929, didnt like it, disliked riding most all 1000s. its fine for me. its not like its your money. im the one getting shot at every day... so im pretty sure your opinion of what i spend my deployment money on means absolutely shit
cptn janks
just go balls out and get the durbahn CF tail section. the entire thing weighs like 10 pounds. http://www.durbahn-gsxr.de/GSXR_Monocoque_4.jpg

I mean I did just come back from a 15 month deployment too and I am kind of curious. I'm telling you how to spend your money, just curious as to why you don't get a 1K or a 750? I just found nothing exciting or fun about a 600 it just seemed slow? Don't get all butt hurt here, I got walked all over by a kit that was 5'7, 150lbs on a K8 1K. I'm just trying to save you money cause I would assume you would want to upgrade to a big kid bike someday?
Driftz161
im in northern iraq, shot @ twice in Bayji, once in Kirkuk, and 3 times in Mosul since june. they're really not fond of the new security agreement. i dont buy a 750 or 1k, because i dont like them. i bought the 6 new in '07... paid it off in 8 months... because i've owned a couple 6s, a 750, a 929, and a 1k... and worked on/ridden most anything else. i personally like the size, the weight, and the power. its not totally stock either... i had it a bit more built, but sold parts to settle my dad's debts before i enlisted. im in the process of getting it back to where it was. ive been on two wheels longer than most people twice my age... its not about being afraid of larger bikes... because ive owned them before. i just happened to find something i enjoyed, that i could build and have plenty of fun with. theres no point in trying to "help me save money"... because im notorious for doin whatever i feel like doing w/ money ive earned. btw... as it sat a little over a year ago... i walked several "big kid bikes". so im pretty sure once im finished, it'll be plenty fast enough again. my best friend's 1000rr still has yet to beat me in the 1/4... so i have no complaints. if i get upset w/ my power... i'll go ahead and get into internals... get my buddy to remap it how it was, and run it on 108 again. small engines can make big numbers too... dont forget that

My girlfriend has a 07 600 and its nothing but horsepower and no torque hence why its easier to drag race and roadrace. Even with full bolt ons that 600 might make 120hp and maybe more with a motor build, with a slip on my girlfriends made 108hp and 43.21 FT/lbs but on 04-05 CBR1000rr makes around 145 stock and 75ish FT/lbs and those are down on pwer compared to the 06-07 models. So I would say that on just torque alone the CBR is harder to ride having double the torque and almost the same weight, even if it were the same two bikes every rider isnt as fast as the next. Just because someone rides a bigger bike doesnt mean they are better rider. I mean ride whats comfortable but you are getting fairly defensive about someone suggesting getting a bigger bike. Driftz161
Alright. I wouldn't go saying your getting shot at everyday than.. yeah... try having a 7.62 riochet off your kevlar while you're attempting to move wounded IPs. it doesnt have to be every day... but people who've never been here wouldnt understand that it only takes one. i've seen more than my share of EFPs, IEDs, IRLs, SVBIEDs, SVests... etc. i've barely been here 80 days, and have earned 4 CABs. i dont know how you guys had it... but here... they hate infantry... and y'all get it worse than we do. so... you should have some clue of the amount of contact we STILL get in this shit hole. and perhaps i bought a bike planning NOT to replace it. i didnt buy it as a "starter". i bought it as exactly the bike i wanted. im modding it to look and perform how i want it to. like i said... i know my times @ mcir... so im plenty pleased w/ it for now

You should ask about March Madness 08 and you'll know we were in the shit for months. One other thing how do earn MORE than one CAB in a single Campaign? You earn it one time per campaign hence the star you get the middle if you have been in multiple conflicts? What rank are you anyway I would figure you would know this shit. I assuming a private of some type or a newly pinned specialist?
Driftz161
then our LT is a retard... he's submitted paperwork on six of us for multiples. just wavered for my specialist, yes. so technically, the cab woulda bee non the first contact i had, in june. either way... im sure you know a thing or two about wanting to spend your deployment money how you see fit

Moostang
i love how you guys argue about combat. I dont like the fact how I saw so much. But i do understand what Dover is saying. I got a 750 and not a 600 because i wanted that rush. I dont know I could be just talking out of my ass. Have a safe trip home!
88lx5oh
who cares, no one on this board can ride any bike to its real potential. a 600 is faster than any one needs to be going anyway. 2nd bikes are made to lean . not go straight fast.. i hate drag bikes, but i appreciate any one who wants to ride no matter what they are riding. that being said just enjoy what you have and STFU
